Caitlyn Jenner Did Not Visit Lamar Odom In Hospital, Despite Reports
Caitlyn Jenner did not travel to Las Vegas to be by Lamar Odom’s bedside, despite a slew of inaccurate reports. Jenner’s rep tells Gossip Cop it’s not true, and neither the Daily News nor E! bothered to fact-check. The former Olympian’s spokesman tell us, “They never checked to confirm and ran erroneous stories.”
The Daily News wrote, “Jenner joined his ex-step daughter” at Sunrise Hospital. First off, as Gossip Cop noted, Jenner did not travel to Las Vegas, and equally wrong was the paper writing “his ex-step daughter” (emphasis supplied). No better was E!, the same network on which Jenner’s reality series, “I Am Cait” ran. The network’s site reported, “E! News can confirm Caitlyn Jenner is traveling to Las Vegas to be at Lamar’s bedside.” Based on Jenner’s rep, that now seems to appears to be a lie.
Naturally, the often inaccurate HollywoodLife ran with the headline, “Caitlyn Jenner Raced To Las Vegas To Be With Lamar Odom.” The untrustworthy webloid added, “Caitlyn, formerly Bruce Jenner, raised Khloe Kardashian and was like a father to her, so we are relieved she is there to support Khloe during this tragic time.” And the re-write newspaper Daily Mail similarly falsely regurgitated, “Caitlyn Jenner arrived at the hospital in Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon.” Of course, had Jenner traveled there, there would have been photos of her there, possibly even with Khloe, but since there were none, the Daily News had to illustrate its off-base report with unrelated stock images (see above).
Regardless, the situation with Odom is difficult enough. There’s truly no need to make it worse with inaccurate reporting. If an outlet can’t fact-check a story, then it shouldn’t be publishing in the first place.
