Caitlyn Jenner: I Want To Be “President” Ted Cruz’s “Transgender Ambassador”
Caitlyn Jenner reveals in a new interview that if Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz were to win the upcoming election and become president of the United States, she would want to take on the role of his “trans ambassador,” and advise the evangelical Christian on transgender issues.
“I like Ted Cruz,” Jenner tells The Advocate. “I think he’s very conservative, and a great constitutionalist, and a very articulate man.” But the reality star does acknowledge that the Republican presidential candidate is “probably one of the worst ones when it comes to trans issues,” and so she hasn’t “endorsed him or anything like that.”
Jenner goes on to reveal that more than a year ago, prior to her transition, she met Cruz, and “he was very nice.” Expressing her desire to join his team, the reality star says, “Let’s say he goes on to be president, and I have all my girls on a trans issues board to advise him on making decisions when it comes to trans issues. Isn’t that a good idea?” Jenner adds she’d like her official title to be “trans ambassador to the president of the United States.”
Cruz, of course, has gone on record about being anti-transgender and against most issues pertaining to the LGBT community. But Jenner, a life-long Republican, acknowledges that while “Democrats are better when it comes to these types of social issues,” she supports the Republican party because she feels its leaders are better suited to run the country. “Number one, if we don’t have a country, we don’t have trans issues,” the former Olympian says. “We need jobs. We need a vibrant economy. I want every trans person to have a job.”
