Caitlyn Jenner’s Mom: “It Takes So Much Courage” To Come Out As Transgender
Caitlyn Jenner’s mom, Esther, says in a new interview that it takes a lot of courage to come out as transgender, but she herself is still trying to adjust to Bruce Jenner’s new female self. “It takes some time getting used to,” Esther tells People, noting, “I’ve called [Caitlyn] Bruce since the day he was born. It’s going to take some time, but I will adjust.”
Esther Jenner adds, “I love her. And she’s happy. That’s all that matters.” Esther also says when Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover was released on Monday it “was a wonderful day” because “it takes so much courage to do what she’s doing.” Recalling the first time she met Caitlyn, Esther tells the magazine, “All I wanted to do was give her a big hug.” The matriarch continues, “It was such new information.”
This isn’t the first time Esther has said in an interview that she was still trying to adjust to Caitlyn. As Gossip Cop reported, she told “Access Hollywood” on Monday that she was still going to call her transgendered daughter by her birth name. “I still have to call him Bruce. His father and I named him that. It’s going to be a struggle for me to get used to the change, but happily so… I’m very happy for him – or her.” What do you think about Esther Jenner’s comments about Caitlyn?
