Caitlyn Jenner Creates MAC Lipstick To Support Transgender Community
Caitlyn Jenner and MAC Cosmetics have teamed up to create a limited-edition lipstick, the proceeds of which will go towards programs dedicated to improving the lives of transgender people. It was announced on Friday that the reality star has signed an endorsement deal with the cosmetics company, making her the first transgender star to score a major beauty contract. One hundred percent of the sales from the reality star’s signature shade, Finally Free, will be donated to the MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative, which benefits various programs in support of LGBT rights.
In an interview published on MAC’s official website, Jenner explains that she chose to name her lipstick “Finally Free,” because, “I wanted a name that I use, and which represents the community. This is who I am: Finally Free.” As for why she picked a “rosy nude” shade of lipstick, Jenner says she wanted to put out “an everyday lipstick, not just a high-glam, once-in-a-while kind of lipstick.” She also admits, “To be honest, I want people to use it every day so they have to buy more. I want to raise a lot of money. It’s very simple.”
Previous celebrities who have partnered on products with MAC include Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj. Jenner’s Finally Free lipstick will be available to purchase starting on April 7.
