Caitlyn Jenner Celebrates Independence Day: “Proud To Be American Where I Am Free To Be Me” (PHOTO)
Caitlyn Jenner took to Twitter on Saturday to celebrate both Independence Day and her own transition from male to female. See photo below.
“Happy 4th of July! Proud to be an American … where at least I am free to be me,” tweeted Jenner, a play on the famous “Proud To Be An American” song lyrics. She included a photo of a framed American flag. It’s not clear where the picture was taken, but it looks to be inside a residence.
It was only Jenner’s 15th tweet since joining Twitter last month. On the same day she made her debut as a woman, the former Olympian posted her very first tweet. She went on to become the fastest person to reach a million followers, besting President Obama’s record.
Now more than 2 million people follow Jenner, where she has posted about her family and her new life. As Gossip Cop has reported, Jenner identifies as a conservative Republican, but has said she wants to use her position to lobby the GOP on transgender causes. She previously wrote on Twitter about meeting with the Human Rights Campaign, and most recently shared a picture of herself at a restaurant with other transgender women.
Some have found it interesting, though, that unlike dozens and dozens of other celebrities, Jenner made no mention of the Supreme Court recently lifting the ban on same-sex marriage. Jenner is pictured above in the trailer for her upcoming E! docu-series, “I Am Cait.” Check out the July Fourth flag photo below.
