Caitlyn Jenner And Reese Witherspoon Are Glamour Magazine’s ‘Women Of The Year’
Caitlyn Jenner and Reese Witherspoon have been tapped to be the 2015 Glamour magazine “Women Of The Year,” a source exclusively tells Gossip Cop. The two women will be featured on covers of the December issue. This year’s “Women Of The Year” marks the 25th anniversary of Glamour bestowing the honor.
Though the official announcement isn’t for another three weeks, an insider says Witherspoon and Jenner have both snagged the “Woman of the Year” titles. Of course, it has been a big year for Jenner, who transitioned from a man to a woman. On April 24, a then-Bruce Jenner told Diane Sawyer during an ABC special, “My brain is much more female, than it is male… For all intents and purposes I am a woman.”
Jenner later posed for the cover of Vanity Fair, and revealed her name to be Caitlyn. She went on to star in the E! docuseries, “I Am Cait.” And throughout, Jenner has tirelessly worked on behalf of the transgender community.
For her part, Witherspoon has had a particularly noteworthy year. She was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Wild, and joined the red carpet movement calling for female stars to be asked better questions, instead of just, “Who are you wearing?” But Witherspoon still showed an interest in clothing, launching Draper James, a retail brand focusing on fashion and décor.
Interestingly, in her Vanity Fair piece, Jenner noted how Witherspoon “never wanted to meet Bruce,” but now wanted to meet Caitlyn. There’s a good chance that will actually happen in the near future with both women being honored as “Women of the Year” by Glamour.
Gossip Cop has reached out to reps for Glamour, Jenner, and Witherspoon, but have yet to hear back. There may still be additional honorees.
Among the other women who have received the honor over the years are Hillary Clinton, Nicole Kidman, Amy Poehler, Serena Williams, Lena Dunham, Laverne Cox, Lady Gaga, and Jennifer Lopez.
