Caitlyn Jenner Pursuing “Romantic Relationship” With Monica Lewinsky?
Caitlyn Jenner has a “king-sized crush” on Monica Lewinsky, and is looking to “pursue a full-on romantic relationship with her,” reports the National Enquirer. The supermarket tabloid claims the two have “bonded” over many things, including how “neither of them likes the Clintons.” But Gossip Cop can exclusively report the magazine’s claim of a “love story” brewing between the two women is 100 percent “not true.”
According to a so-called “insider” for the Enquirer, “Monica is flattered. She’s been unlucky in love since falling hard for Bill Clinton. She never imagined making a romantic connection with a transgender person, but she’s open-minded.” In an effort to make this seem more believable, the magazine notes that Lewinsky has recently “unveiled an amazing new figure to coincide with her rebirth as an anti-bullying activist.”
What’s true is that Jenner found inspiration in Lewinsky’s words from her March 2015 TED talk in which discussed cyberbullying and the “price of shame.” At the Vancouver conference, the former White House intern dubbed herself “Patient Zero” in a world where public shaming has now become a “blood sport.” Those and other remarks resonated with Jenner, who had been the victim of shaming, including having to contend with In Touch photoshopping her head onto the body of a woman three months before she was ready to publicly announce her transition.
Jenner noted in the interview for her Vanity Fair cover that Lewinsky’s words helped her share her story. The former Olympian was particularly moved by Lewinsky’s concluding comment at TED that “anyone who is suffering from shame and public humiliation needs to know one thing: You can survive it.” Following Jenner’s public reveal in Vanity Fair, Lewinsky was among the first to praise her, tweeting, “insisting on a different ending to her story is EXACTLY what @Caitlyn_Jenner is doing. she is helping so many. BRAVA! @VanityFair.”
The Enquirer, however, alleges Jenner’s acknowledgement of Lewinsky’s talk “got the romantic ball rolling.” Since then, claims the tabloid’s supposed “source,” the two women have been in “close contact… They chat on the phone for hours late at night and they’ve secretly met up.”
The magazine’s unnamed “source” further states Lewinsky and Jenner are “birds of a feather,” who have closely bonded over their “severe bullying” and how “neither of them likes the Clintons.” “Caitlyn is taking things slow, but she’d love to pursue a full-on romantic relationship” with Lewinsky, concludes the tabloid’s “source.”
There are a few problems with the Enquirer’s story, including it’s mostly a fabrication. There is no romance or prospect of a “romantic relationship” between Jenner and Lewinsky. Jenner’s own rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop the two women have “talked,” but have never met, and any claim of them dating is 100 percent “not true.”
