Is Caitlyn Jenner turning her book into a movie? That’s the rumor that surfaced this week in more than one place. Gossip Cop looked into the allegation.

The claim can be found in the current edition of the National Enquirer, under the dramatic headline, “Caitlyn: The Movie!” According to the accompanying article, Jenner is “looking to turn her new tell-all memoir into a made-for-TV movie!” A so-called “source” claims to the supermarket tabloid, “Caitlyn is working to option her book into a movie project.”

The gossip magazine’s supposed snitch, however, goes on to suggest that the proposed film won’t actually come to fruition. “What is hurting her is that the book wasn’t as successful as her publisher had hoped,” contends the outlet’s purported tipster. The “source” goes on, “The interest in Caitlyn isn’t what it once was.”

To recap, the publication is alleging Jenner wants to make a TV movie based on her book, but is also claiming it’s unlikely to happen due to low interest. This is a typical tabloid trick. The magazines make an assertion that isn’t true, but build in an excuse for why it won’t actually happen anyway.

What’s particularly notable is that this is the second tabloid film story this week about the transgender star’s memoir. As Gossip Cop previously reported, the National Enquirer’s sister outlet OK! has a similar piece in its new issue. In that version, it was wrongly alleged that Jenner was talking to Rob Lowe about playing her in the supposed movie. The two happen to share a spokesperson, who exclusively assured us the claim was untrue.

Now Gossip Cop can again confirm that not only is Lowe unattached to such a movie, but there’s no film even on the table. It’s not uncommon for the lives of unique athletes to be turned into movies on screens big or small. But at this point in time, Jenner doesn’t intend to option The Secrets Of My Life. “None of it is true,” the rep tells Gossip Cop exclusively. Another contact we spoke with even snarked, “Such idiots.” It’s hard to argue with that.
