WATCH: Bruno Mars And Mark Ronson Perform “Uptown Funk” on SNL (VIDEO)
Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson were the musical guests on this week’s “SNL,” hosted by Cameron Diaz. They performed “Uptown Funk” (video below). It’s the first single off Ronson’s upcoming album, “Uptown Special,” which is set to be released on January 27, 2015.
“Uptown Funk” debuted at 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is gaining momentum. The recently released music video matches the song’s funky tempo and features Mars in 1970s attire getting a perm, a shoeshine and grooving down a city street alongside a stretch limousine, on which Ronson’s sitting on the hood.
This marks Ronson’s debut on “SNL.” Ronson, of course, has released a handful of well-received albums, but is mostly known for being a legendary producer. In addition to producing Amy Winehouse’s hit “Back To Black” album, he’s been recognized three time by the Grammys as the “Producer Of The Year.”
It’s the third “SNL” appearance for Mars, whose first time was as the musical guest on the Jane Lynch-hosted episode in 2010, and then did double duties as both the host and musical guest in 2012. During Mars’ last appearance on “SNL,” he memorably played an intern named Devin who saved the day at the Internet radio network Pandora with his spot-on impressions of Green Day’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, and even Katy Perry. He also blew the roof off of Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center that night with his performance of “Locked Out Of Heaven.”
