Bruno Mars Comes Out of the Closet in Radio Interview?

Bruno Mars has NOT come out of the closet as gay, contrary to a rumor that was widely circulated on Monday.

The singer’s name began to trend on Twitter after CNN iReport posted a story that said only, “The famous pop-star Bruno Mars admits his homosexuality.”

A second outlet played up the rumor, claiming that Mars “admitted to a small Chicago radio station” that he was gay, first supposedly under the guise of April Fools’ Day to test reaction, and then for real.

It’s 100% false.

The singer’s rep tells Gossip Cop the reports that Mars has come out of the closet are “completely fabricated” and “false.”

If he came out yesterday, which would be very cool, don’t you think it would have been reported by other legit places like People magazine and the Associated Press today. Huh?     They’re continually on IRC and several other websites collectively attempting to make this thing happen.

    This is the cancer at 4chan’s idea of lulz. They’re quite good at what they do, it’s just that their collective sense of “lulz” just is not quite what it used to be. They have tons of fake FaceBook, Twitter, and YouTube troll accounts going full force to get this thing trending.

    They even have phony cnn.com ireport stories continually being made and linked to. They win when this thing get’s picked up by a credible news source, or when Bruno himself is forced to address the issue himself. Nothing would please them more than to have Bruno’s official twitter or FB acct posting denials of this rumor…

    They have also made fake recordings of this supposed radio interview and posted them online.

    Anyone on YouTube, Twitter or FaceBook who is actively trying to correct these rumors is silenced, either by marking their posts as spam, or even posting their personal information online and trying to threaten them. This actually works, as I have seen several people give in to the power of Anonymous in the past few hours. They really are quite good at what they do…
