Bruce Jenner NOT Getting “Cut-Rate Back Alley” Sex Change Operation In Thailand
Bruce Jenner is becoming a woman. He is NOT having a “cut-rate… back alley” operation in Thailand, despite what the National Enquirer claims. According to the tabloid, Jenner has planned out a $1,700 operation in Bangkok. Gossip Cop can debunk this story as 100 percent false.
The Enquirer says Jenner “snuck away from the family to meet with a doctor who performs sex-reassignment surgery” during last season’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” trip to Thailand. While the magazine has no clue where Jenner allegedly went, or to whom he allegedly spoke, it feels free to print completely absurd speculation as though it’s fact.
Because the Enquirer does not know anything about Jenner’s plans, it interviews a random doctor in Bangkok and pretends that he’s Jenner’s doctor. That’s how we get the tabloid’s interview with Dr. Thep Vechavisit of the Pratunam Polyclinic, who seems very happy to tell the Enquirer all about a hypothetical operation on Jenner.
“I am not the best plastic surgeon in Bangkok, but I’m the cheapest,” he tells the Enquirer, which explains that Jenner wants a “bargain” operation rather than the $25,000 surgery he might get in the United States. “The rest of the Kardashian clan may get their nips and tucks at sleek, ultra-modern facilities in Beverly Hills, but Bruce answers to his own drummer,” explains an Enquirer source. “In Thailand, he’s virtually unrecognizable.”
None of this makes even a shred of logical sense. Bruce Jenner is extraordinarily wealthy AND turning his gender transition into a television show. Why would he want the cheapest sex change operation he can find? Why would he care about doing it in a country where he’s anonymous? And why would he do it in a place where, in the event of an emergency, he’d be in danger of serious complications? It’s almost as though the Enquirer made up a sensational story to capitalize on Jenner’s very sensitive personal journey. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop the report is “based on nothing.”
