Bruce Jenner’s First Wife Chrystie Crownover Reveals He Was In “Pain” And “Tearful” Watching Interview (VIDEO)
Bruce Jenner’s first wife, Chrystie Crownover, watched his interview with Diane Sawyer, along with her ex-husband and their kids Burt and Casey Jenner, and said at times throughout the special he was in “pain” and “tearful.” Talking to “Good Morning America” on Monday, Crownover called the experience of them all watching together, “kind of surreal,” and noted, “I know it’s been painful for him. I know it’s been a torment in his life.” See the video below.
Crownover revealed to “Good Morning America” that while watching the special on Friday with Jenner, he sometimes appeared to be in “pain.” She also said, “He was tearful at times and it broke my heart. It broke my heart for him… I think it was cathartic to watch it together. It was pretty intense.”
During the Sawyer interview, Jenner revealed that Crownover was the first person he told about his desire to become a woman. The former Olympian said he told her during their first year of marriage. “Understandably, I was speechless,” said Crownover about that initial conversation. She added, “I didn’t really know what to say. I was really pleased that he shared that intimacy with me, that he trusted me with his deepest darkest secret.”
Crownover admitted it was hard for her to wrap her head around Jenner’s revelation at first because he was “such a manly man.” She said, “He didn’t display any female style in any way. He never indicated anything feminine in his demeanor… It didn’t threaten me. It didn’t threaten our marriage. It wasn’t really a threat… It wasn’t a problem.”
Crownover commended Jenner for his bravery with publicly coming out. “I’m sure there are plenty of people that don’t have the courage to come out at all ever and they live private, dark, tortured lives. That’s tragic. The fact that he did share it with me that first year… It was a gift that he gave it to me, that he trusted me with something so intimate.” Watch the interview below with Crownover, and tell us what you think.
