Brooklyn Decker Not Happy Being Called Andy Roddick’s “Bikini Model Wife”
Brooklyn Decker called out The Weekly Standard on Thursday after the magazine described her as Andy Roddick’s “bikini model wife” in its profile on the tennis star. Decker, who’s also an actress and involved in various charities, isn’t happy about “being reduced” to just one aspect of her career.
Decker tweeted a link to an op-ed piece titled “The Greatness of Andy Roddick,” but added the caveat, “Aside from being reduced to a ‘bikini model wife,’ this article has some very nice things to say about my husband, all of which are true.” The author of the article describes Roddick as one of his “favorite players of the last 20 years,” who has “the most dangerous serve of his era, a shattering forehand, and phenomenal net play.” The athlete is also characterized as “smart” and “charming” with “movie-star looks,” and these are just a few of the many complimentary remarks paid to the tennis star.
But lower down in the article, it says, “Oh, and he married Brooklyn Decker, an SI swimsuit model,” before noting that Roddick is “going home every night to his bikini-model wife.” This is the only mention of Decker, who one could argue is best known for her many appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, including its 2010 cover. However, the model’s acting career has taken off in recent years, with her having played the female lead in many major movies, and also having a supporting role on the Netflix series “Grace and Frankie.” Additionally, Decker is involved in numerous charities and causes, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, UNICEF, and her husband’s organization, the Andy Roddick Foundation, to name a few.
