Brooke Burke: I Have Cancer (VIDEO)

Brooke Burke has revealed that she’s battling thyroid cancer.

The “Dancing with the Stars” co-host told her story in a YouTube video posted to her ModernMom blog on Thursday.

Burke’s doctors originally found a nodule in her neck back in July, and subsequent testing returned results that were “not good.”

She needs to have thyroid surgery and have a thyroidectomy.

“I feel really good… I’ve never felt better,” says Burke, who vows to “make a positive out of this negative thing.”

The star adds, “I’m ready to deal with it, and I’m going to be fine. And I feel really strong.”

    Can’t help but notice how preoccupied she seems over the fact that she’s going to have a scar on her neck (though I understand the reasoning in mentioning it- the elephant that will be in the room). I worked with her at an old job and was not a fan of her superficiality. However, I do still wish her a safe recovery and peace for her whole family as a human being and survivor myself.

    My friend and her mother had thyroid cancer and had the surgery to remove the gland. The friend’s staples popped because she had an inept doctor, but she recovered fully. Her voice wasn’t more than a whisper for a long time and yes, she has a scar. Her mother had no complications ( different doctor) and has a barely noticeable scar.
