After a couple of months of speculation and negotiations, Britney Spears has reportedly officially signed on to be a new “X Factor” judge.

According to reports, Spears is being paid $15 million.

The pop star will join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and a still undetermined fourth judge on the music competition’s second season.

Former judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger departed the show after season one.

FOX has yet to announce a premiere date for the new season.

Gossip Cop is reaching out for confirmation.

She can’t sing a lick! How can she fairly judge contestants?

Since LA Reid reliably voted against his competitors singers and for his own instead of honestly voting on the contestants themselves Cowell should have gotten rid of him as well.

She is ALL autotune!!!! Bring back Paula, I liked seeing her and Simon’s little banter on the show

I love Britney’s music and can admit she has that “x factor” but not sure about her being a judge. Two big reasons why I fought the Britney bandwagon for so long is because 1) she can’t sing live (saw an early performance and it’s obvious why her focus is on dancing/performing). 2) she’s not great when it comes to speaking (i.e. interviews).

I just can’t picture her as a judge but I guess we’ll see.

Dont u have to have so type of knowledge to be a singing judge?…….. What is she gona say to the contestants u need more auto tune in your microphone”…… I mean really this is a joke what’s next they will announce that mr snuffulluffaguss big birds buddy will be the fourth judge cause he us as much talent as her

Can Paula Abdul? Can Simon Cowell for that matter? It’s about the ratings. And Britney will bring HUGE ratings.

I think this is a good show for Britney. It is a singing competition, but they focus on more than the singing so I think that’s where she can become involved. Be interesting to see how she does, since since her coservatorship (I’m assuming that’s why), we don’t see much of her when she’s not performing.

the focus is not the judgment to Britney

Oh Shit!!! Simon, say GOOD BYE to your career. What? ya’ll couldn’t afford Beyonce? Mary J was too busy? Madonna? Cheryl? Gaga? wait, no Gaga. lol !! uggh..

It all looks a bit desperate to me. What a shame. I was looking forward to having XF come to the U.S. The UK version is brill. Something tells me Fox is interferring too much in the mix. God knows they hosed up Idol for several years before they got Nigel back and backed away a bit. When Simon has a good corporate partner, like he has with ITV and NBC, he does well. With Fox, not so much.

It’s Fox, not Simon. They forced him to dump Cheryl – huge, HUGE mistake – she would have won hearts very quickly, left alone. They forced him to dump Nicole and then Paula without letting the chemistry develop. Back off, Fox. Let the man do what he does best.

The majority of America has not and will not embrace Cheryl; she just never crossed over that well. I don’t think it’s anything against her or her abilities, and Nicole enjoys way more solo success in the UK than she has in the US for some reason. If American Idol can hire J.Lo then I can’t see any reason for the X-factor US not to hire Britney.
