Claim of Britney Spears Self-Mutilation is Ugly, Wrong

Truth rating: 0

The National Enquirer returns to one of its most stomach-turning practices this week, claiming without evidence that a celebrity has suffered serious trauma.

This time Britney Spears is the target.

According to the tab, the performer “is deliberately hurting herself and mutilating her body” to cope with despondence over father Jamie Spears‘ continued control of her life.

Specifically, the Enquirer cites “insiders” who claim Spears “has thrown herself down stairs, dropped weights on her arms and legs, and repeatedly rips out her hair.” She’s also allegedly “thrown temper tantrums that go on until she passes out from exhaustion,” says a so-called “source.”

While with mother Lynne, the same “source” reports, Spears supposedly paused at the top of a stairway leading to a garage, and then “leaped off the top stair,” only to be saved by bodyguards who caught her “before she hit the floor.”

What proof does the tab provide for these accounts of endless self-abuse?

A photo of Spears that shows a bruise on her left arm.

That’s it.

Sadly, that the National Enquirer feels free to make troubling, unsubstantiated claims about Spears is nothing new.

In recent months the rag insisted Spears had an emotional breakdown in Australia (not true), printed a disgusting “abortion nightmare” piece about her (thankfully, not true), then alleged she was back on the path to a psychiatric ward (again, not true).

With such a spotty track record, it’s the Enquirer doing damage to Spears, not the pop icon herself.

A source very close to the superstar tells Gossip Cop the newest story is “completely untrue,” and assures that Spears is “happy and as healthy as she’s ever been.”

They make up such horrendous stuff. By all accounts Britney’s father would like the personal conservatorship to end but that isn’t up to him. That is up to the courts who go by what britney’s doctors and psychiatrists say. Obviously they don’t so far feel the conservatorship should end. If Jamie didn’t want to do it anymore they would just have a state conservator take over if no family member would do it. I’ve had worst bruises then the one Britney had on her arm and it wasn’t from me throwing myself down stairs or mutilating myself. It is so horrible the things they make up about someone with obvious mental illness.

I can’t say anything on the issue about Britney but I can relate it into other case in Sport’s world. I could say that popular icons in the media serve to be target of such case. It appears that Chuck Noll was completely wrong, because it’s turning out the Pittsburgh Steelers are the criminal element in the NFL, not the Raiders. Sure, they play rough, but at least they don’t get busted for assault like Santonio Holmes, or for rape like Ben Roethlisberger, or cheat like Ben Roethlisberger playing against the Seahawks, for that matter. Granted, neither Holmes nor Big Ben will require instant cash loans for lawyers, but they have to learn about having a quiet night in for once.
