There’s something that’s just not kosher about the story (in The Frisky and elsewhere) that has Britney Spears – who briefly flirted with Kabbalah – being offered a role in a Holocaust movie called, “The Yellow Star of Sophia and Eton.” Wait, it gets worse:  the film involves time travel.

According to reports around the world—ranging from Haaretz in Israel to Der Spiegel in Germany — Spears would play Sophia, a woman who, thanks to a handy time machine — ends up in a concentration camp and falls in love with a Jewish prisoner named Eton. You’ll recall Spears was last seen on the big screen in the equally gripping “Crossroads.”

Mostly, Gossip Cop is not sure what’s more amusing — that the report is not true, or that even though it’s only a rumor people are already kvetching. Charlotte Knobloch, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, told the German tab Bild, “It is reprehensible to combine the issue of the Holocaust with Britney Spears in an attempt to secure financing for the film… Ethical considerations should have priority.”

Have no fear. A source close to Spears says that this story is “not true.”
