Brie Larson Hugs Every Sexual Abuse Survivor From Lady Gaga’s Oscars Performance (VIDEO)
Brie Larson hugged each survivor of sexual assault who stood behind Lady Gaga while she performed “Til It Happens To You” at Sunday’s Oscars. After Lady Gaga finished singing the emotional song, which was featured in the documentary The Hunting Ground, the molestation survivors walked off the stage and passed Larson, who was seated in the front row. The actress made sure to show her support by embracing every one of them. See the video below.
Sexual assault was among the main themes of Room, the film which earned Larson the Best Actress statue at Sunday’s Oscars. Larson, whose character was held against her will underground with her son (Jacob Tremblay) and repeatedly sexually assaulted, undoubtedly felt a connection to the survivors who backed Lady Gaga’s performance.
As Gossip Cop previously noted, after being introduced by Vice President Joe Biden, who spoke about victims of sexual abuse and urged everyone to “intervene” in this situations, Lady Gaga sang “Til It Happens To You,” which is about the horrific consequences of sexual molestation. The survivors behind Lady Gaga had messages written on the arms, including “Not Your Fault.” Check out the video below of Brie Larson showing her support for the survivors following Lady Gaga’s performance by hugging each one of them.
