Brian McKnight Takes Shots at Chris Brown, R. Kelly Behavior; Brown Fires Back

Brian McKnight took not-so-veiled shots at Chris Brown, R. Kelly and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in a Twitter rant on Saturday, sparking a fight with Brown and a flurry of debate.

The R&B singer has been taking flack for his recent excursion into sexually explicit lyrics and subject matter.

In response to the backlash, McKnight wrote a series of messages attempting to draw a distinction between his perceived missteps and the behavior of some other celebrities.

That’s when things got intense.

McKnight tweeted, “Since everyone’s so opinionated I’m taking suggestions on what I should do next I’m thinking rent a lambo and beat the s**t outta my girl… That’s acceptable these days.”

The apparent reference to Brown’s well-documented battery of Rihanna was not the end of McKnight’s commentary.

“Or maybe have sex with a 14 year old girl and film it that’s acceptable these days,” tweeted the singer, this time seeming to allude to R. Kelly’s past legal issues.

Then McKnight wrote, “Or let the court system let me make 35 million before I do my 87 days in a private cell for domestic abuse that’s acceptable these days.”

The last remark refers to Mayweather, who was allowed to take a big payday for a prizefight before being having to enter jail on Friday.

McKnight explained, “It’s not shade I’m just reminding all of us what we accept on a daily basis.”

He further added, “I meant no disrespect to anyone I was merely pointing out that In today’s society anything goes and WE Are all to blame the end.”

What followed was lengthy back-and-forth between the singer and his Twitter followers, before Brown himself chimed in with a response.

“I see how this works now,” wrote Brown. “When peoples careers get to the “nobody cares” stage they use my name for publicity! Lol.”

Brown continued, “I can’t keep helping these old n**gas. Its miracle the way I’m bringing the dead alive!”

He added, “I would’ve gladly wrote you something that would make u look less irrelevant!”

Brown then said of McKnight’s infamous song about women’s anatomy: “THAT S**T IS TRASH!”

So far, there’s been no response from McKnight.

Gossip Cop will have updates on the unexpected feud.

What do you think about what McKnight said, and how Brown responded?

I love this site! They are both acting immaturely and Brian has little room to talk seeing as he was arrested for Domestic Abuse a few years back. Still, Brian’s catalog exceeds anything Chris has or will do, so that remark was foolish.

So Brian, what is the strategy here? You made songs your fans don’t like & you are here blaming your successful colleagues for it? including a boxer? I really don’t get the correlation here.

This twitter rant is more disgraceful than your porno music Brian. The guys you are attacking respected you & now you’ve lost that too. Brian Brian Brian! please just die with honor and dignity.

Chris Brown sings into a machine. At least McKnight doesn’t do that.

  • what ever

I don’t understand if anything he should be showing Chris the right way to do things that’s why I have a problem with some of the old timers they r so full of shit back in the day u were not held accountable for What u did money talk and everything was hidden now days people show and tell everything right or wrong Chris made one mistake and the court system sentenced him. Now it’s time to let it go. And as 4 the fighter Why not make the money the court system allowed Robert Downey JR. Make he’s movie and go back to work everyday. Chris don’t worry about the bull shit make your money and by the time u r Brain Mcknight’s age u will not have to a stupid songs like he did that is really sad.

I have hated Chris Brown ever since he beat Rihanna. Since then, I have lost all respect for him. However, Brian isn’t completely off the hook either. They are both just acting totally foolish and immature and need to grow up

My goodness Chris Brown put Brian in his place but guess what at the end of the day they are both being ridiculous!

I always liked Brian when he was co-hosting the morning show on The Wave (94.7FM) but then he had to quit to do more touring. I amsorry to see a once classy guy do stuff like this.

  • Tiara Marshall

    Agreed.

  • Tiara Marshall

But the thing is… you can’t judge Chris Brown’s career until he is done… Brian McKnight is practically done. And Chris Brown paid his debt to society and has moved up and on… So to keep bringing up the Rihanna situation is petty.

  • Seanx40

McKnights only mistake was apologizing after the scumbags got offended. Screw them, and any of their idiotic fans.

  • Randomlibra

He speaks the truth. If Chris Brown had even an ounce of class, he would simply ignore it, but he takes advantage of EVERY SINGLE mention of the beating to throw in people’s faces that he still has a career. Mr McKnight makes some good points.

Brian don’t know why you are getting at r.kelly for?… He his more successful and widely recognized as the most successful r&b act & the KING of r&b..Brian seriously should get a life cos his pathetic diss won’t take a string of hair out of KELLZ he is stronger than your weak & pathetic “ass”…FOOL

Chris Brown is a punk and I’d gladly show him just how bad he ain’t. Any guy who would hit or beat a girl is nothing but a punk.

In addition, as a singer he’s not in the same league as McKnight and whoever made that statement of Brown singing into a machine (auto Tune), is correct.

Mayweather may be a good boxer but he’s a poor excuse for a man.

  • Mimiblair

Brian McKnight needs to dig his self, I always considered him to be a class act, but in recent days, it’s been hard. Brian if you feel that your career has stalled, thats no one else’s fault, but the people that are being brought into YOUR drama, have done nothing to you. When Chris Brown was going through what he was, the man never mentioned your name, when R Kelly was going through his thing, not once did he mention your name, and Floyd Mayweather, what he went through was genius, have his jail date put off until after his multi-million dollar fight, I’m impressed, but he never mentioned you. I’ve heard these sexual rants you put on tape, you sound more like a man who needs to seek professional help. You want to do something, try putting out a decent CD.

All the hyper for what? They did the things they did RK CB and FM let it go. If Rhianna and Chris still want to be together who cares. She must be ok with his ways. Floyd is just being the thug he was before all the money. Brian needs to show both of them how not to harm the one you love. RK is in a zone of his own making music. All I can say is all this talent and they still don’t get it. Only one person is responsible for their crape. Them!!!

  • CamdenShore

That’s what I find so ironic about it. Chris Brown….rightfully putting someone in their place? The world is surely coming to an end. With that said, I do think the criticism of Brian’s song is over the top. It’s clearly a parody and any woman that takes that sh*t seriously probably takes HERSELF too seriously. I still love Brian and despite Chris’ “issues”, love his music as well. They need to stop taking digs at one another and focus on their careers. Stupid Twitter!!!

  • Kaylee

Of course Chris Brown didn’t just ignore this man. He had to respond and say something stupid. Why does this abuser still have fans?

  • Anonymous

I think it is hilarious that McKnight talked all this trash and then when Brown stepped up he was like ‘I’m going to step away from Twitter.’ If you can’t take the heat man..
