A story spreading EVERYWHERE today claims major Hollywood stars have been forced to sign contracts with “anti-Twitter” clauses. Specifically, Cameron Diaz and Mike Myers were singled out as the first two stars to be banned from Tweeting.

The contracts allegedly barred Diaz and Myers from communicating with fans and media with interactive tools like Twitter and Facebook.

The report declares, “Executives at DreamWorks have forbidden actors from giving out information on the internet by inserting clauses into their contracts,” and notes Diaz and Myers are “the first affected by the move.” Speculation stems from a recent blog post on The Hollywood Reporter’s web site examining a supposed crackdown on showbiz social media.

The story is bogus, Gossip Cop can report EXCLUSIVELY. There is no such clause, at least not for the stars mentioned.

A representative for Myers tells Gossip Cop it’s “completely false.” Diaz’s camp has echoed those sentiments.
