OFFICIAL: “No Decision Has Been Made”; However…

EXCLUSIVE STATEMENT!

Reports everywhere this evening claim “Breaking Dawn” is going to be adapted into two movies.

The official word given to Gossip Cop from a rep for Summit is, “No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.”

HOWEVER, a well-placed source tells Gossip Cop dividing Breaking Dawn into two pictures “is the direction that it’s going in.” We’re told that from a practical standpoint, separating the story into two parts and shooting back-to-back is what makes most sense.

Earlier reports seem to be fairly accurate when it comes to timing, specifically, that filming may begin in October.

Gossip Cop will keep you posted when plans are officially finalized.

    I can’t handle waiting that long!! Just make a three and half hour movie like Lord of the Rings. If they decide to do the two movies, I agree with dancing. The three principals better get a HUGE payday out of it!

    To be honest I think Breaking Dawn is the weakest link in the series. Better to cut out big chunks of newly introduced characters who are superfluous to the major storyline and make a slightly longer movie, focusing on Bella, Edward, Jacob and Renesmee. Also, the supposedly un-ageing cast is getting older (as is the young, fickle, female fan base). Summit should stop being greedy and just wrap it up or they run the risk of outstaying their welcome with this series.

    Robert and Kristen have been WAY underpaid, especially considering how much the movies made and how much merchandising has been done. I hope they get script approval and a HUGE payday for this.

    If they could dump Lautner it would be a huge bonus.

    Very well put “JenCoutt “. I’m so over Summit trying to drag these movies out and trying to make it seem like it is the Lord of the Ring or the Harry Potter series. Breaking Dawn was the weakest of all the books then it got plain dumb with the vampire c-section and babies being born with a full set of teeth. I’ll hold on to the books I did at least enjoy them. but the movies so far have been very disappointing. I disagree Taylor (Jacob) is not the one that needs to be recast. But, it is too late now—-any recasting will totally flub the movies up even more.

    Please let scummit know the majority of twi fans are NOT in favor of two Breaking Dawn movies! Perhaps they should read some of the fan blogs before they make a definite decision.

    Since I read the leaked Eclipse script it’s evident the studio and Melissa Rosenberg are not interested in following the books. They are designing the Twi movies for Taylor Lautner/Jacob Black and the Edward/Bella love story is becoming secondary. Their love and relationship are what fans are crazy about…it sure as hell isn’t taycob! Hello?!

    They shoved taycob down our throats for the NM promotion even though the story was about Bella’s journey not Jake’s. We hardly heard from Kristen or Rob because it was all about Taylor Lautner 24/7.

    Chris Weitz promised fans we would not be disappointed with the Edward/Bella part of the movie…oh really? I patiently sat through 90 minutes of taycob only to see the Edward/Bella reunion scenes cut and rushed and key dialogue totally eliminated. Edward wasn’t even allowed to say “Before you Bella, my life was like a moonless night…” WHY NOT? Oh wait…I remember now…we have to see every single last bit of taycob on screen because the Edward and Bella story is not that important to scummit and Melissa.

    So I figure Two Breaking Dawn movies will probably have 3 hours of taycob, 30 minutes of fight scenes, and if fans are lucky maybe, just maybe 30 minutes per movie of Edward/Bella. One movie will have 2.5 of taycob, 30 minutes of fight scenes and if we’re lucky 15 minutes of Edward/Bella. I CAN’T WAIT FOR ROB AND KRISTEN TO BE FREE OF THIS EFFING STUDIO!!!

    So I’ve decided it doesn’t really matter if scummit makes two movies or goes with one…I’m not going to see it! I’ve had enough and I’m not going to give scummit another cent of my money! They’ve ruined the series and I refuse to pay them for it!

    Totally agree with what Raven said! I dont know why Summit didnt fired Mellissa Rosenberg,really..she’s ruining the series!they are making it all about Taycob..Ok i know in New Moon there arent so much Edward in the book either but really for what we have in the movie..they changed it ALL!! the scene before Italy?? that is supposed to be an important scene..it is in the book..and what they did in the movie?? a totally RUIN! I was waiting for that scene all the time..because I saw probably the entire movie with trailers minus taht scene and then they change it so much! So i Hope if they made BD in one or two movies..PLEASE do it right.. the story is about EDWARD and BELLA so please concentrate the movie in their history that is what probably the most of the fans of the saga are fans..because of edward and bella…

    I’d rather Rob make Unbound Captives than Breaking Dawn. Summit must have noticed they got a Razzie nomination for New Moon’s screenplay – or rather Melissa Rosenberg did. I don’t care how many people say Razzies don’t matter – it’s still embarrassing. How well will Breaking Dawn turn out if they still have her doing the screenplay, and presumably with Stephenie Meyer’s approval? I sat in a cinema in London watching New Moon and a lot of the audience were laughing at some scenes – the deodorant commercial that was the slow-mo running through the forest/Bella as vampire; Rob’s appearance in the clock-tower scene when he looked as if he was wearing a Halloween skeleton suit. I don’t recall anyone laughing at Twilight and I saw it about 20 times. It doesn’t bode well for Eclipse and I think they need to wait to see what happens with that before they think about BD. I agree RP/KS should get far more money for it if it’s made, but the longer they wait the more Rob is going to look like a geriatric compared to Taylor and KS. They should quit while they are ahead and end the Saga with Eclipse.

    Oh man, I was silently hoping NO Breaking Dawn movie would be made! If one longer film were made, I would find it tolerable and supportable. But TWO films, and with Rosenberg still at the helm?? OH NO! If this in fact is true, then I am so bummed out…
    I am wondering if there is an embarrassment clause, that results in some kind of residual check for Rob and Kristen from Summit? A public apology even? Something that says, I’m sorry we exploited this little love-story Indie and worked you kids like Southeast Asian sweatshop workers….sorry you signed on for 3+years of filming and countless years of post-BD mortification right as you were making your mark in the film industry and gaining respect from your peers (and Kristen you just added more accolades to your already brilliant career)…. They need to be done with this franchise, free from poorly written scripts and free from a studio that doesn’t appear to respect it’s talent nor fans.

    I would just like to say that my daughter and I are twi fans and agree with some of the comments on here that they did ruin new moon because there were parts in the book that should have been in the movie especially when edward decide to go to italy and kill himself there was so much left out like the part when their in the room togther and he’s telling her why he left and what she means to him that should of been in there, what they did with new moon was tried to make it a jacob and that’s not the case it is suppost to be about edward and bellas love for each other not about jacob so stop trying to make it somethings it’s not we have already read the books so stick to the story line and do right by the books because your fans are what made this series so be true to your fans, and i hope they do breaking dawn why 3 and not 4 and i also think that breaking dawn could be done in one movie i remember when you could go to the movies and watch a three hour movie and enjoy it . i can’t stand these hour and half movie (titanic was 3/12 hours long i think but people paid to see it and sat through it ) so hope they do right by the movie eclipse and breaking dawn give your fans what they want and stick the story line and concentrate and bella and edward’s love, ps hope they put rosalie’s story in there plus jaspers story really liked those parts of the book.

    Ok, I read all the comments and somehow I agree with some, but there are others that I don’t agree at all!
    First I would like to introduce myself, hello Gossip Cop I’m Liliana, a recent member, I’m 18 and I’m Portuguese.
    I ended up at this site because I wanted new information about the Breaking Dawn (the movie), and I have to say congratulations Gossip Cop, here you have a site with lots of information about various things, I have to say that I will definitely come back here!
    I registered myself in this site to comment on this article, because I really would like to give my opinion, so here goes:
    First of all: In my view, (the book) New moon was focused mainly on Jacob, so the movie has also been focused mainly on Jacob! Even the title immediately suggests that there will be wolves to the mix. However I just realized the title after learning that Jacob was a werewolf. Then the title began to make sense to me.
    If I understood the book, what is focused in the beginning is edward leaving bella, and she’s lonely and desperate because of that, but from that point on, the book focuses on the physical changes of Jacob, the support he gave to Bella, and of course the big secret that he hides .
    All of you (or at least most of you) know that Taylor Lautner (who is Jacob Black in the two movies), had to change his body, to continue his role as Jacob.
    He (so I read) made a great effort to become’ ‘big” as he is now, to be able to incorporate the character in new moon.
    I’m sure the producers of the New moon realized that, then they may also have focused more on Jacob in the movie because of that…

    Now speaking of Breaking Dawn (movie), I agree if they decide to split Breaking Dawn in two movies.
    Why? Because the book focuses on several things at once.
    Also because the book has a part that is like Bella writing (which is how it was in all previous books) and then we have the part of Jacob ”writing” .
    We must also see that we have the scene that bella is pregnant until she have the baby (which may be the first movie), and then of course the scene where they began to form an ”army” of vampires (and werewolves) to fight against the Volturi, where Bella learns to use her powers, etc. (which may be the second movie).
    So if you think about it, or they make a movie of 4 hours, or they divide it into two movies.
    And I speak for myself, I don’t like the idea of being 4 hours sitting in a cinema , because I did that when I saw Avatar for 3 hours, without intermission, and I left there tired of being sit, I wasn’t paying attention to the movie at the end , I just wanted to get out of there so I could go to the toilet. Was very tiring,
