New York Post Shoots Down Brad Pitt, Sienna Miller Flirting Rumor After Starting It
Earlier this week, Gossip Cop exclusively corrected a New York Post article that falsely claimed Brad Pitt and Sienna Miller were flirting at a dinner party. Now, in a head-scratching move, the newspaper is shooting down the rumor it started. What?!
Miller co-stars with Robert Pattinson and Charlie Hunnam in the new adventure drama The Lost City of Z, which Pitt produced, and following the film’s recent Los Angeles premiere, she and Pitt attended a group dinner. As Gossip Cop reported at the time, a purported “witness” at the private event told the New York Post that Pitt and Miller were “doing some serious flirting” and “heavily enjoying each other’s company” all night. But it wasn’t true, and a rep for Pitt even exclusively assured Gossip Cop, “There is nothing to it.”
Now, a couple off days later, the newspaper is reporting that Miller called the flirting claim “silly” at a Tuesday screening of the film in New York City. “I’m not going to even dignify it with a response,” the outlet quotes the actress as saying. “It’s predictable and silly.”
Naturally, a number of publications reported the initial flirting rumors without bothering to do any fact checking whatsoever. RadarOnline, HollywoodLife, and the Daily Mail were among the many outlets that simply picked up the New York Post’s untrue claim and spread the fake news. The newspaper is now acknowledging it got the story wrong, but Gossip Cop was first to bust the false romance story involving Pitt and Miller.
