Is Brad Pitt leaving the acting game?

Asked how long he’d like to continue acting onscreen in an interview with Australia’s “60 Minutes,” the Moneyball star said definitively, “three years.”

As for what he’d do afterwards, Pitt replied, “Hell if I know,” adding, “I’m really enjoying the producorial (sic) side… and getting stories to the plate that may have had a harder time otherwise.”

The 47-year-old actor revealed it’s for his children’s sake that he’d retire from acting.

“Their [the kids'] idea is that when they go out beyond the gate – because we have to live behind a gate – there’s people standing there in line with cameras that try to take your picture,” he explained.

“Their idea is that everyone has to deal with that, though the older ones are getting more savvy. It’s the only thing that I get hot about, that I’m ready to fight about.”

Pitt also told the Australian show that he and Angelina Jolie have not ruled out adding more children to their brood of six, saying, ”I don’t know that we’re finished.”

Gossip Cop is skeptical that Pitt will really give up acting when he turns 50.

This reeks of Oscar campaigning. It’s like he’s saying you don’t have many more chances to give me an Oscar. Angie did the same thing when she was campaigning for some film one year. She claimed she was quitting acting in two years because this was just a job and she had better things to do. That was at least six or seven years ago.

I believe him. I think he will retire in three years. By then he will have been acting for almost 30 years and he’s played a lot of different kinds of characters so perhaps he’s just tired of the process. His production company has done a variety of projects so full-time production could be more satisfying for him.

So what? People in all sorts of career’s say they are retiring or would like to. Doesn’t mean it will happen. And why should she retire? Angie is still very young. My Mother had 11 children and was extremely successful in her career and family life…she didnot retire till she was 62yrs.old.

Sorry all you haters! I adore Brad Pitt and I think he is an amazing actor. I really hope he doesn’t quit acting entirely, but returns if he is offered a great script or if he finds a great story he can produce himself. He is also a wonderful father, partner, and caring humanitarian I do hope I will see more of him, even if is not on a regular basis..but more like Clint Eastwood manages his career. I would miss him so much.

Why doesn’t any of his fans realize what an asshole Brad Pitt is! I’m an 18 year old Australian female and I can see it a mile away, he isn’t a very nice person and that shows in his interviews. I’m not a fan of Brad never really have been because I can see that all the fame and sexiest man in the world comments have gone to his head. I just don’t like his personality and him acting like someone else is a nice break from who he truely is. So if he was to “retire” I would be all for it, its not like I will miss him or the movie industry will notice that he is gone. Thats just the best part about the industry you don’t like someone and they no longer do acting they disappear!

Embarrassing for me that a fellow Aussie even at 18 you are so very immature and ignorant. Brad is a very decent, well-respected gentleman, and you’d better believe it! He is well-respected amongst his peers, and well-liked. And thats not by accident. He is a sweetheart and a true gentleman.
