Brad Pitt Interested in Rights to Chilean Miners’ Story

Brad Pitt‘s production company, Plan B Entertainment, has expressed interest in buying the film rights to the Chilean miners’ rescue story.

The 33 miners made headlines everywhere when they were dramatically rescued after being trapped underground for more than two months.

On Sunday, the miners’ lawyer, Edgardo Reinoso Lundstedt, told the Chilean newspaper, El Mercurio, Pitt’s company had offered millions of dollars for the rights to the miners’ story. (No one was able to confirm to Gossip Cop the claim of millions offered.)

Lundstedt also noted several of the miners might even be cast in the film, if the deal goes through.

At this point, however, there is no firm offer from Pitt’s production company.

    Thought you’d like to know EW is reporting this story isn’t true.

    Perhaps you’ve seen the reports today (apparently based on interviews given to a Chilean newspaper) that Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, is in talks to produce a movie about the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped and finally freed? We reached out to Plan B for a status update on the project, and a source at the company responded simply that the entire story is “not true.” Looks like, for now at least, we’ll have to settle for the porno version that’s apparently in the works.

    I don’t think anyone that is NOT HOLLYWOOD wants to see Brad Pitt, George Clooney or anyother hollywood type person BUY THE RIGHTS TO THIS STORY. Yes, we all know there are going to be 332 different versions of this story, but YOU ARE STARTING TO SOUND LIKE PEREZ HILTON IN ASKING WHO DO WE WANT TO STAR IN IT. This should be more like a documentary, NOT A BLOCKBUSTER. This ‘movie’ will be a homage to the ‘star’, rewritten for them. Like it will be centered on the man who made the drill, and how he SAVED ALL THE MINERS. screw the miners.
