Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Win Damages for Bullsplit Story

Back in January, the British tabloid, News of the World, wrote that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were splitting up, and making arrangements for dividing their $320 million in assets and custody of their six children.

As you’ll recall, Gossip Cop was quick to call the story “bullsplit,” because it was totally fabricated.

The stars then sued the tabloid — and now won!

Today, in London’s High Court, the happy couple accepted an undisclosed sum in damages for the false and intrusive allegations.

Their attorney Keith Schilling said, ”When the News of the World failed to publicly retract the allegations and apologize for them — thereby leaving their readers in the dark as to the true position — the couple felt they had no alternative than to sue.”

He added, “Today’s victory marks the end of the litigation brought by Brad and Angelina.”

The two stars were not in court, but will be giving the money they won to charity.

    LOL. Still saying that you were the first one to call that story bull crap when it was really Just Jared who pointed out they were not broken up first. You didn’t confirm that it wasn’t true till the next morning.

    I think with the publicity this story got they had every right to sue, now I wonder will all the so-called reputable news sources that covered this story give as much publicity to its retraction?

    Good job Angelina & Brad. Sue them all. I hope all the celebs sue every last one of them that lie on them. Those things are nothing but “hell” itself. Great job!

    Sue sue sue sue SUE!!!!!… Even if that would be giving tabloids some of the attention they seek, I thing if people don’t speak up, the rumors and BS will continue to be spread around… Just cut the cr*p already and report instead of invent things… Really…

    And couldn’t expect less from them than giving the money to charity… :D… Gotta love these two…

    Its about time rag mags took responsibility for the crap they write! This makes me feel all good inside ! NOW I wish all celebs took this type of action! …. OH and other RAGS are watching this! HA HA!

    That’s a lot of money for a tabloid to be so stupid. It wouldn’t have hurt to apologize. They know that they lie a lot… in fact everybody should know that. I guess they must be insured… but nevertheless that’s a lot of money for a tab to lose. At least Angie and Brad are giving it to charity.

    There should be accountability for the rags. They are spreading lies all over the world. They caused a world misleading and misunderstanding. SUE THEM ALL.. WE ARE BETTER OFF.
