Real Steel Dances Past Footloose for #1

BOX OFFICEHugh Jackman‘s Real Steel, once again, knocks out the competition with a weekend take of $16.3 million, just ahead of the Julianne Hough-Kenny Wormald Footloose remake, which earned $16.1 million.
Coming in a distant third was the horror film, The Thing, which made $8.7 million in ticket sales.
The George Clooney-Ryan Gosling political drama The Ides of March and Dolphin Tale came in fourth and fifth places with $7.5 million and $6.3 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Moneyball ($5.5 million), 50/50 ($4.3 million), Courageous ($3.4 million), The Big Year ($3.3 million) – whose stars (Steve Martin, Jack Black, Owen Wilson) couldn’t save it from flopping, and The Lion King ($2.7 million).
