New Year’s Eve New #1 at Box Office

BOX OFFICEThe all-star cast of New Year’s Eve helped lift the romantic comedy to the top spot of this weekend’s box office, replacing Breaking Dawn as North America’s #1 movie.
New Year’s Eve secured first place with $13.7 million in ticket sales.
Coming in second was the debut of Jonah Hill’s The Sitter, with a box office take of $10 million.
And nabbing third was Breaking Dawn, with another $7.9 million.
The Muppets and Arthur Christmas took fourth and fifth places, with $7.1million and $6.6 million respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Hugo ($6.1 million), The Descendants ($4.4 million), Happy Feet Two ($3.8 million), Jack and Jill ($3.2 million), and Immortals ($2.4 million).
