‘Transformers’ Has BIGGEST July 4 Weekend Opening Ever + Full Box Office

BOX OFFICETransformers: Dark of the Moon made a lot of green this red, white, and blue holiday weekend.
The latest film in the franchise had the biggest Fourth of July opening ever, raking in $116.4 million for the four-day weekend, and easily secured the #1 spot at the box office.
Shia LaBeouf‘s and his robot car buddies smashed the animated Cars 2, which fell to #2 with a four-day weekend total of $33 million.
The Cameron Diaz-Justin Timberlake comedy Bad Teacher came in third with $17.5 million, followed by Larry Crowne, starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, which earned just $16 million.
Super 8 nabbed fifth place with $9.8 million.
Rounding out the Top Ten were the Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester film Monte Carlo ($9 million), Green Lantern ($8.4 million), Mr. Popper’s Penguins ($6.6 million), Midnight in Paris ($4.7 million), and Bridesmaids ($4.6 million).
