“Boss Baby” Beat “Beauty And The Beast” At Box Office For Second Weekend

As Gossip Cop reported, Beauty And The Beast held on to the box office throne for two weeks in late March, helped in part by a record breaking opening. Its reign, however, came to an end when The Boss Baby opened last weekend. This week, Boss Baby took the number one spot with $26.3 million, while Beauty And The Beast came in second with a solid $25 million.
Meanwhile, Smurfs: The Lost Village, a new addition to the blue-hued franchise, had a disappointing debut. The animated film opened in third place with just $14 million. Going In Style, another new film but with an adult demographic, secured fourth with a $12.5 million opening. And Scarlett Johansson’s controversial Ghost In The Shell brought in $7.35 million for the fifth position.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Power Rangers in sixth with $6.2 million. Finishing in seventh was Kong: Skull Island, with $5.8 million added to its box office haul. Logan nabbed eighth with $4.1 million, while Get Out came in ninth, thanks to $4 million in ticket sales. Rounding out the Top 10 was The Case For Christ. The movie earned $3.9 million.
