Bobby Brown on Whitney Houston’s Death: “God Needed Her for the Choir in Heaven”

On Wednesday, the “Today Show” began airing Matt Lauer’s interview with Bobby Brown, the first time Brown has opened up since the death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston.

As Gossip Cop reported, Brown defends himself during the sit-down, saying that accusations Houston’s downward spiral could be attributed to his presence in her life are not true.

He maintains, “I’m not the reason she’s gone.”

Brown recounts seeing Houston a week before her death, calling their daughter Bobbi Kristina upon hearing the tragic news, and talks about whether he could have done more to prevent Houston from dying.

“Maybe I could have done something different to ensure that she had a longer life… but you have to want it, you know,” says Brown. “Some things just happen. God probably just needed her for the choir up there in heaven.”

    I feel so sorry for that guy! I have been in an co-dependent addictive relationship (2 years sober) and it will destroy EVERYONE it touches. Fact of the matter is: SHE did the coke/crack…. He didn’t force her.Just liek I did and wasn’t forced…

    Back at the day I was a huge Whitney fan, and very active member of an official fan message board. And even then, (over 10 years ago) there were stories that actually it was Whitney who did heavier drugs then Bobby did at the time they met.
    I never knew what to make of it. Because, as Whitney fans, it was pretty much our duty to hate Bobby for dragging down Whitney, but I could never completely dismiss it either.
    Oh well, I know it cant be easy for Bobby. Don’t matter how it started, it was Whitney’s choice, no one held a gun to her head to do drugs. And she is in a better place now. Still I was sad to see her go.

    I don’t know why everyone who ACTUALLY knew Whitney is naive to the fact that Whitney was doing drugs before Bobby Brown stepped into her life. Now, maybe her life went downhill after she and Bobby got together because like he said, he tried it when he was with her…He liked it. So Whitney no longer had to hide her drug use because now Bobby liked it as well. So she continued using it with him. It’s just sad that only Bobby was strong enough to quit. R.I.P. Diva

    The truth be told….She was doing Coke at the early age of 16… Her Mom knew…Cissy couldn’t leave her in the care of her Brothers.. Cause Gary was a Drug abuser at that time! She was in the Clubs singing backup at 15 and 16 years old… You don’t think she was exposed? Bobby Brown didn’t give her the big thumbs up… They both dabbled eventually…..However, Bobby is not at all the blame in anything that Whitney did… She’s not here to defend herself…but trust me.. From the time she was 16 and up…She had a problem.. she had a problem… and Her Family KNEW IT!!!!
