A heartbroken Bobby Brown took the stage in Mississippi on Saturday, just hours after the death of his former wife Whitney Houston.

Brown and his band mates in New Edition, who opted to go ahead with their scheduled performance, paid tribute to the late singer throughout the concert.

“I would like to say, I love you Whitney,” Brown reportedly told attendees. “The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage.”

During an intermission, fans sang along to Houston’s “You Give Good Love,” the Associated Press reports.

Brown and Houston, who were wed from 1992 to 2007, have one daughter together, Bobbi Kristina.

While Brown has yet to release an official statement on Houston’s passing, the remaining New Edition members say they “are absolutely shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely death of our dear sister Whitney.”

The statement, provided to TMZ, continues, “As a group, we are extremely close; when one of us hurts, we all hurt.”

“As much as we are in pain right now, we will continue to draw strength from God, as we support and comfort our brother Bobby, their daughter Bobbi-Christina and Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston,” the statement adds.

It concludes, “Our thoughts and prayers remain with the entire Brown-Houston family today and always.”

A devestated man wouldn’t just be playing a show, and just occasionallyn throwing her name around to look good. A report I read said he was crying, and called every family member he knew, frequently breakih down on the phone, and he was “beside himself” with grief. I was hoping that was true, but clearly not.
its sad to see that all these shows can continue to go on, and generally speaking tonight will be a night of celebration for the music industry. A preGrammy party, that Whitney was supposed to attend, took place I the hotel where she died with her body still there and police and forensic teams runnig around investigating. They dedicated a single moment of silence to her before partying, and a few singers d3dicated their songs to her. It seems to me, that people just want to make the money they were going to without respect for this tragic situation.

While what you are saying has some truth behind it, think about it. If you paid thousands of dollars to attend something, would you want to hear that it was cancelled being that you took time off from work and a number of other events. If you were a business, can you imagine the hit you would take?

Not trying to be blunt or anything but life goes on and doesn’t stop because someone passed away. While this is a sad time for the music industry -once again- life goes on.

Bobby and Whitney were divorced. I wouldn’t expect him to go running to her side, EXCEPT to console his daughter about it. That’s where the priority should be with a FATHER that is DIVORCED. What a douchebag.

I’m not a Bobby Brown fan – but I think he made a good choice to finish his concert. To walk out on all those fans, not to mention the folks who hired him, wouldn’t bring Whitney back – and Bobbie Christina, I’m sure, understands that.
