Blake Shelton Performs “Halftime Show” For Veterans — WATCH VIDEO!
Blake Shelton and Pepsi teamed up for a special “halftime show” in Corpus Christi, Texas, for thousands of men and women in the armed forces, as a thank you for their priceless service. Check out the video below!
Pepsi explains, “OPERATION HALFTIME is a go! Our good buddy Blake Shelton wanted to help Pepsi say thanks to a few thousand military veterans and their families… so he hopped on a helicopter and landed it atop the deck of the USS Lexington, exactly halfway across the country. What happened after that truly brought the magic of halftime to life.”
In footage from the event, Shelton explains his personal connection, saying, “My dad is a veteran of the Korean War. My brother is in army veteran.” He and several veterans then go on to discuss how service members are trained for war, but sadly not prepared for their return to civilian life. “This is the kind of thing that has to happen,” says Shelton, “because this is the only that we can say thanks.”
Shelton shared the video on Friday, writing on Twitter, “Now THAT was a halftime show! Thx to all our vets for your service…let’s get Hyped For #Halftime!” The clip also features the “Voice” coach performing “Lonely Tonight” with Ashley Monroe, who performs with Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert in the all-girl band Pistol Annies (photo above).
As Gossip Cop reported, the actual Super Bowl halftime show in February will feature Katy Perry. Watch Shelton’s video below! Note: Video no longer available.
