Blake Shelton NOT “Smothered” By Gwen Stefani, Despite Report
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Shelton is “thrilled” Stefani won’t be returning to “The Voice” as a full-time coach next season. “Rumor has it that Blake has had enough of sharing ‘The Voice’ with his girlfriend Gwen — and their lovefests on air have gone a bit too far for the country music singer,” claims the webloid.
The site suggests Shelton is to blame for why Stefani won’t be part of the panel for season 11. “Blake Shelton has a lot of pull on ‘The Voice’ If he really wanted Gwen Stefani to have a chair — she would have,” writes the outlet. “And, you have to admit that it seems a bit odd that not one… but TWO available coaching positions opened up and Gwen Stefani didn’t receive either one of them.”
Continuing to ignore other factors, such as producers’ preferences and Stefani’s own busy career outside of the show, CDL declares, “The bottom line is, if Blake really wanted Gwen to be a coach on ‘The Voice’ again — then she would have. We’re not saying that Blake secretly sidelined his girlfriend (although he may have), but he definitely didn’t go to bat for her either.”
“It looks like the country music singer might be feeling a bit smothered, and wants at least one part of his life to be a Gwen-Free zone,” adds the site. Of course, it was CDL that ran a totally false story in November wrongly saying Stefani was going to replace Christina Aguilera on season 10 of “The Voice” simply because she was dating Shelton. That piece speculated that NBC would fire Aguilera to benefit from the publicity of Shelton and Stefani’s relationship.
And now this is another story filled with nothing more than baseless speculation and misleading sensationalism. Stefani’s absence from season 11 has nothing to do with Shelton. In fact, he’s repeatedly voiced his desire for her to return full-time.
And far from feeling smothered, the country superstar is spending whatever time he can with Stefani. He even joined her and her family for Easter on Sunday. Celeb Dirty Laundry is just smothering readers with wrong information.
