“She’s Got A Way With Words” is the second track on If I’m Honest, Shelton’s brand-new album. The record just came out on Friday, featuring the lead single, “Came Here To Forget.” The song “Savior’s Shadow” was also released prior to the album’s official premiere.
Though he didn’t write the song, many have assumed “She’s Got A Way With Words” is about Shelton’s divorce from Miranda Lambert. “She put the her in hurt/She put the why in try/She put the S.O.B. in sober/She put the hang in hangover,” he sings. The chorus goes on, “She put the ex in sex/She put the low in blow/She put a big F.U. in my future/Yeah she’s got a way/She’s got a way with words.”
Shelton performed the track on TV for the first time on Monday as part of his appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” And the country superstar has been making the rounds. In addition to a recent spot on “The Tonight Show,” he hit up the “Today” show last week, and took the stage at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards.
He was also featured on “Today” earlier Tuesday, during which he confirmed he’ll be back on “The Voice” for season 11 this fall. Watch video of Shelton’s “She’s Got A Way With Words” performance from the season 10 finale below!
