Blake Shelton announced on Monday’s “Today Show” that he will be hosting the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards, which is set to air on Nickelodeon on March 12. Check out the video below!

During his interview with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, Shelton self-deprecatingly joked that in hosting the ceremony, he’ll be showing kids that when they grow up, “This is the best you can hope for.” As far as who he looked up to growing up, Shelton said, “When I got older, it was country singers.”

Shelton went on to explain how the hosting gig came about. “My agent called and was like, ‘Is there anything you can think of that you’d want to do?’… And I actually had been thinking I want to host those Kids’ Choice Awards, I want to do it,” the country superstar said. “And she was like, ‘Uhhhh… Okay.’ I wanna do this thing with kids. It’s fun. I wanna get slimed.”

At the end of the segment, they showed a clip of Shelton filming a promo for the awards show in which he gets slimed while sitting in one of the famous chairs from his reality show, “The Voice.” Shelton had teased the announcement on Twitter over the weekend, telling fans he had “insane” news to share. As Gossip Cop reported, the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards were hosted by Nick Jonas. Tell us in the comments below what you think about Shelton taking on hosting duties for next year’s show.
