Blake Shelton Breaks Silence After Miranda Lambert Divorce: “This Calls For A Drink”
Blake Shelton broke his silence on social media on Tuesday, tweeting for the first time since it was announced he and Miranda Lambert are divorced. And, as is often the case, Shelton went with a joke.
As Gossip Cop reported, the former couple released a joint statement on Monday, revealing they were divorcing after four years of marriage. A few hours after the announcement, a judge signed off on their divorce documents, making them officially single again. Shelton had filed for divorce two weeks ago.
Prior to the news, Shelton had last tweeted on Friday, posting multiple messages about his recovery from LASIK eye surgery and his performance that night at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming. He went radio silent after that, even though Lambert performed at the event on Saturday, and he traveled to New Hampshire for a NASCAR race on Sunday.
On Tuesday afternoon, though, more than 24 hours after the divorce was revealed, Shelton showed he still had his trademark sense of humor. “Just got off the treadmill. This calls for a drink. B*tch…,” he tweeted. As many Shelton fans know, he often writes about his penchant for drinking, and frequently ends his tweets with “b*tch.”
More than 30 minutes later, Shelton revealed he was still checking out his Twitter feed when he replied to a fan. “I cannot imagine you on a treadmill haha,” the obviously well-meaning follower wrote. Shelton replied, “It looked like one of those messin’ with Sasquatch commercials…”
For her part, Lambert tweeted just a few hours before their split went public, advertising a concert for July 28. She has not tweeted since. And, as Gossip Cop previously noted, she and Shelton haven’t interacted on social media since April, skipping over both his birthday and their fourth wedding anniversary.
