Blake Lively “Today” Show Video: Watch Interview On “The Shallows” And Ryan Reynolds
Lively, who is currently pregnant with her second child, hinted that she and Reynolds will continue to expand their family. “Oh my gosh, yeah. I’m one of five kids. My husband’s one of four,” she noted, going on to joke, “So we’re officially breeders. You can go on our website and we will give you some of our children.”
Of daughter James, Lively gushed, “She’s always doing something fun and exciting. She’s the most fun, funny human being I’ve ever been around.” And it was revealed Reynolds partially inspired Lively to take on The Shallows, in which she plays a shark attack victim stranded in the ocean.
“He did a film called Buried where he’s in a coffin the entire time. That was probably, I think, ever harder to do because you have to carry a movie in a box,” Lively said. “At least I got these beautiful settings and a shark and all these things to help me. But an isolation film is tough. It’s you the whole time.”
Still, she insisted, “It was a fun shoot. We shot in this beautiful island… It was pristine and amazing. And the rest of it was basically in a giant swimming pool.” And no, Lively doesn’t have a fear of sharks in real life.
The former “Gossip Girl” star shared, “I actually had an amazing experience — I went diving with great white sharks and an incredible shark conservationist. Being in the water with them, it takes away that fear.”
Lively went on, “You see them in movies and they’re villainized, but when you’re in their habitat, you see they’re not actually hunting you. They’re just in their land.” Check out the full interview below!
