Bindi Irwin was named the first contestant of season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday’s “Good Morning America.” Other cast members will be announced each day for the next two weeks on the morning show. Irwin is the 17-tear-old daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin.

As Gossip Cop reported last Wednesday, the dancing pro for the upcoming season are reigning champion Val Chmerkovskiy, Karina Smirnoff, Witney Carson, Sharna Burgess, Peta Murgatroyd, Allison Holker, Artem Chigvintsev, Mark Ballas, and Derek Hough.

Though a teen, Irwin is used to the spotlight. After her father died from a stingray attack when she was only 8, Irwin continued to do TV, hosting the show, “Bindi’s Bootcamp.” In addition to appearing on that show and many others, Irwin has also starred in some films, including Free Willie: Escape From Pirate’s Cove.”

After being announced, Irwin said on “Good Morning America,” that she was excited for this “new journey.” She said, however, “The judges scare me more than crocodiles.” Irwin lives on the grounds of the Australia Zoo, but while she competes, the teen will be joined in Los Angles by her mother Teri and younger brother Robert.

Gossip Cop will continue to update as more stars are announced. Season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars” kicks off on ABC on September 14. Note: Video no longer available.
