Billy Joel National Anthem World Series Video: Watch “Star-Spangled Banner” Performance Here!
Billy Joel sang the National Anthem at the game three of the 2015 World Series on Friday. Watch below!
Joel, a longtime Mets fan, performed the “Star-Spangled Banner” in front of a hometown audience at New York’s Citi Field. The game marked the first of the series on Mets turf. The team lost the first two games against the Kansas City Royals in Missouri earlier this week.
Of course, Joel is no stranger to singing the National Anthem, given his iconic, decades-long career in music. In fact, he previously had the honor of performing at the 1986 World Series and the 2000 World Series. Unfortunately for the Mets, they lost both of those games.
Win or lose this time, the experience adds to what is no doubt a huge year for Joel. He continues to sell out his residency concerts at Madison Square Garden, and in August, he and wife Alexis Roderick welcomed baby girl. The couple wed in a surprise July Fourth ceremony the month before.
As Gossip Cop reported, Andy Grammer did the National Anthem at game one of the World Series on Tuesday. Sara Evans handled duties the next night. And on Saturday, it will be Demi Lovato at the mic. Joel is pictured above during sound check earlier Friday. Check out full video of his performance below!
