‘Mike & Molly’ Star Billy Gardell Starting Pizza Business In Orlando
Billy Gardell wants to become the pizza king of Orlando. Gardell Brothers Brick Oven Pizza, a joint venture with his younger sibling Brian, will quietly open its first location on Sunday, the “Mike & Molly” star tells Gossip Cop.
“I am hoping to go to Pittsburgh next and then I would like to bring one out to L.A.,” he says. “Then I would like to look into maybe attracting an investor and putting together a little reality show like the Wahlbergs did.”
The comic, who admits to gaining back 15 pounds this summer from pizza-related “stress,” has already recruited several of his “Mike & Molly” castmates for the official grand opening celebration on October 9 and October 10. “Lou Mustillo (Vince) is going to come and bartend with us for the weekend and Reno Wilson, (who plays) my partner, is gonna come down,” he tells Gossip Cop. “It is gonna be neat. It’s a good family joint… an old-fashioned sit down pizzeria.”
Gardell, who was a former spokesperson for Round Table Pizza, has ties to Florida. His family relocated to Orlando from Pittsburgh when he was still in high school. But don’t count on Gardell leaving his day job to run pizzerias. His CBS show “Mike & Molly” was renewed for a sixth season in March, and he tells Gossip Cop, “I would love to do it until they throw me out,” adding, “I love, love, love my job.”
