Billy Corgan Launches Wrestling Company (VIDEO)

Billy Corgan, best known as Smashing Pumpkins‘ frontman, is launching a professional wrestling company in Chicago.
The endeavor, Resistance Pro, is a legitimate side project for lifelong wrestling fan Corgan, who says he’s been informally involved with the industry for about a decade.
“My job… if you can call it that, is to write the angles and set the tone for the future vision of the company,” announces the rocker in a mission statement.
Corgan adds, “I believe I bring to the table a unique set of experiences from the music business that translate to how to engage a fan’s deeper interest, whether it be in the ring or hopefully one day on television.”
Resistance Pro will have a more “old school kind of feel” than the industry’s goliath, World Wrestling Entertainment, says Corgan, whose position is described as “creative director.”
Corgan has also said that the wrestlers’ health is among the new company’s biggest goals.
“We want to encourage a safer in-ring product that balances incredible athleticism with storytelling,” he says.
The company will debut with a “Black Friday” event on November 25 in Chicago.
Corgan talked about the new venture in an interview with Chicago’s Fox affiliate.
