Billy Bob Thornton On Angelina Jolie: “I Never Felt Good Enough For Her”
“I never felt good enough for her,” the actor tells GQ about Jolie, who he was married to for less than three years. Thornton notes how the actress’s passion for getting involved in world issues and humanitarian causes conflicted with his more laid-back lifestyle. The actor was also uneasy mingling with Jolie’s well-known friends, adding, “I’m real uncomfortable around rich and important people. I like how I am.”
Still, Thornton reveals he and Jolie have remained good pals since divorcing in 2003, and talk every few months. He even kept her name tattooed on his leg, never bothering to cover it up despite the split. A second tattoo of Jolie’s name on his arm is now concealed by an angel, but Thornton maintains, “See, it’s just resting there. You can still see the name.”
Thornton doesn’t address Jolie’s high-profile and contentious divorce from Brad Pitt during his interview, but his comments about his ex are the first one’s he’s made since her recent breakup. Thornton’s full interview can be read in the November issue of GQ, which is currently available on newsstands nationwide.
