Bill Rancic Defends Giuliana’s Zendaya Comments: “She Didn’t Do Anything Wrong” – WATCH VIDEO
Bill Rancic spoke out on Monday’s “Today” show, defending his wife Giuliana Rancic over the backlash she received from comments she made about Zendaya’s hair on “Fashion Police” in February. Bill explained, “Her intent was to make a hippie joke,” adding, “We knew that she didn’t do anything wrong.” See video below.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, Giuliana was slammed by critics when she said Zendaya’s dreads on the Oscars red carpet looked like they smelled “like patchouli oil…or weed.” Detractors characterized Giuliana’s remarks as “racist,” and she later apologized.
Bill said during Monday’s interview that had Joan Rivers still been hosting, the damage control would have been handled much better. “If Joan was around, God, she never would have allowed that to happen,” he noted. And when asked how he felt about those who went after his wife, Bill replied, “It was hard, because as a husband we are the defender, we want to protect our family, and I just kind of had to be muzzled…I wanted to get out there, and I wanted to defend my wife.”
As Gossip Cop earlier reported, Melissa Rivers was also on Monday’s “Today” show and opined that “Fashion Police” fell apart after she died. The show is set to regroup and return in September. Check out the video below, and tell us what you think of Bill Rancic’s comments about his wife?
