Bill O’Reilly: “Whitney Houston Wanted to Kill Herself” (VIDEO)

(Fox News)

In his first broadcast since Whitney Houston’s death, Bill O’Reilly offered a harsh assessment of the pop singer’s demise.

“Whitney Houston wanted to kill herself,” said the commentator.

He added, “Nobody takes drugs for that long if they want to stay on the planet.”

“The hard truth is that some people will always want to destroy themselves, and there’s nothing society can do about it,” continued O’Reilly.

He blasted the doctor who prescribed medication for Houston, saying the physician “had to know she was a drug addict.”

O’Reilly also slammed Tony Bennett for his call for drug legalization immediately following news of Houston’s death, pointing out that only legal prescription pills were reported to have been found in her hotel room.

Check out the video below.

Can this guy be anymore of an idiot? No heart, No tack & No common sense. I beginning to think that she consider taking some drugs??? anything would be better than hearing this moron talk

  • debbie

I think everything he said was correct…..no one does drugs that long and would expect to live. Sooner or later your heart is gonna give out. Whitney was a mess for so long, this came as no surprise to me.

  • Tanni

STFU You heartless Son of a Bitch..addiction is a desease..YOU are the freaking idiot..its so easy for you to make judgements on someone else when you have never had to walk in their shoes..I cant believe you even have a job..honsestly and to have one that airs on national TV?…You are one of the reasons I cant tolerate Fox news. Your pretentious ignorance turns my stomach..wonder how you would feel if the person who died in that bathtube had been your wife or daughter..I hope Bill O’reilly reads this and sees how heartless and cruel this statement is..just like his.

  • A Concerned Citizen

Tasteless and classless. I can see Debbie above shares these qualities. How do you say something like this in light of a person’s death? Regardless of how you feel you should always respect the dead.

I feel bad for her and her friends and family. But really what he said is true. I know addiction is a disease but with any disease you get medical help to fix it. And obviously she didn’t do that. And I’m not gonna say she wanted to kill herself but she definitely contributed to it.

  • lexoxo

i agree to an extent. it was very blunt but he always is but that’s what everyone is thinking. yes i’m sure she was a great person but she tried to get help and went back to her old ways. it’s a disease but she could have stopped and gotten help. i think she may have wanted to kill herself. that could have been what happened… nobody knows. that’s what it sounded like when i heard the news. but i woudn’t have been SO blunt about it. and i agree that tony bennet is a complete retard! why should be legalize drugs because of this considering the drugs used were prescription and legal.

  • Tony

I think the people here are very ignorant to the fact of how strong addiction can be. To say “you can stop and get help for it” is a very fictional way of looking at it. Addiction is so deeply rooted within us – because everyone is addicted to something – that it’s more psychological than anything. God rest her soul and maybe the media will wake up and start covering about the evils of addiction.

  • Ben

The point is Bill’O could have waited at least after the funeral to lecture us on something we already know.
Then again,he’s not known for his tact or class.

Apparently her doctors were ignorant too. You don’t prescribe those kinds of drugs to someone who is already an addict, I’m not a doctor and even I know that. She should have been in a rehab centre or therapy. Too many doctors these days try to solve problems by throwing pills at it rather than getting to the underlying cause.

  • stark

i think that most of the things that he said is true… i love whitney. but i think what she lack is the will to fight back from addiction. there are other celebs who experience the same but had a strong will to move forward and to continue sharing their lives with their love ones. i suppose o’reilly is not personally mad at whitney. he was upset because such talent wasted and it was a gift that could have been cherished. yes he is a moron for being blunt and harsh, but pointing out the obvious is best after the funeral given that the family is still grieving for the loss.

  • D. Martin

Guys like this just don’t THINK. She still has a mother, a daughter and, I think, a brother. This is the last thing they need to hear. I mean, really…how cold hearted can you be?

  • Anonymous

Bill O’Reilly is a tool! I can’t believe people pay him to open his mouth and more unbelievable, there are still people listening to his irrelevance. STFU!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VRPFLS5UW65ZDHYULR4EQAZHIY H

I’m pretty sure that when you call someone a retard no one will take you seriously.

  • boxofcooky

Bill O”Reilly is being very judgmental. He doesn’t know the circumstance of what actually happened, except that she drowned. Before he made his judgment, he could have at least waited until the teat results come back and the funeral over.

Bill is my hero – sensible man

    1. O’Reilly could have made his point without insinuating Whitney Houston died from drugs. 2. He has no proof, and will not until the toxicology report is made public, that drugs had anything to do with her death. As the serious journalist her purports to be, he shouldn’t be making connections like this without proof. 3. Did he really suggest that Singapore was the model the U.S. should follow for their drug policy? Did you know chewing gum is also outlawed in Singapore? Also that caning is still a popular form of punishment in Singapore? Singapore? Really? 4. Mandated drug rehabilitation sounds like a very practical solution to a clearly widespread problem, but in fact has little practical applicability in the real world. Even if we completely ignored the complicated nature of addiction and treatment, how does Bill O’Reilly propose we fund such a project? 5. Stating that Tony Bennett is losing his grasp on reality because he hold’s an opinion that is different from Bill O’Reilly’s is not only unnecessarily insulting, but it’s also childish. I mean really, what’s the point?

  • French Flies

She went to rehab three times.

  • French Flies

Addicts with money will always find a pusher. Be it a doctor or a dealer.

  • Palladin

I disagree. Addiction is NOT a disease…it’s a choice. Cancer is a disease as is diabetes. Drugs and alcohol are a choice because a person can stop if they have the will power and the desire to do so. You can’t stop having a disease like the ones mentioned above just because you don’t want them. Bill O’Reilly is simply stating what he feels and I agree with him. With the money and resources that she had she could have gotten PLENTY of help. How often did she just walk away from the rehab centers? Apparently too many.

  • BSAD

he’s king douche, douche’s make prime-time network airing and money. pretty much all fox news crew does. respect to that. has good points and bad points. but keyword is: douche

  • Mark

I didn’t realize they reported the cause of death yet…..

  • guest

He is the voice of reason among all the “bleeding heart whatevers.” She admitted herself in an interview that “she could be her own worse enemy.” She was self destructive and her diva attitude got in the way. Nobody dared to intervene and stop the “train wreck” she had become. She brought it on herself. Let her be in Peace now.

  • Gayle97212

Ok debbie o’reilly, did you or bill know Whitney, hell no you didn’t, so stop playing GOD. Addiction is a disease you stupid IDIOT!

  • ORDIVA

You are just stupid and ignorant as billy boy. Addiction is a disease, a person can want to quit and can’t without professional help. Whitney has been clean from street drugs for the pass 3yrs, get your facts right before you try playing GOD. Goes gives a flying DUCK about what billy boy feels, he needs to keep his comments to himself and so do you.

  • Queenbee

You are playing the idiot role too, please get your facts in order before passing judgement, only GOD can do that. Who said she didn’t seek and receive help, where did you read or hear that. How dare you say she contributed to her own death, there you go again making an assumption, which by the way is absolutely FALSE! I just hope you or no one you know and care about ever dies. KARMA!!!!! Everybody gets turn even you Phalen

  • Nosyneighbor22

She may have been clean from “street” drugs but the prescription drugs are what killed her. What’s the difference? Drugs are drugs whether they are made in crack house or a pharmaceutical laboratory — they are lethal, addicting and dangerous. She knew this and continued to abuse drugs anyway. She was addicted, yes, but with all of her money she could have gotten the professional help needed to beat it. Her poor daughter is walking right down the same road too . . . very sad indeed!

  • Dmartin4163

I agree completely with you O’Riely. You couldn’t say it any any better! Thank you. I loved Witney Houston, she was my inspiration as a singer, but sadly I said my good by’s to her 15ing years ago. After The Body Gard she wasn’t the same.
My prayers go out to her daughter and mother, I can’t imagine the pain the must feel. dear Lord give the peace and set them free restore there heart In Jesus name Amen.

  • Dmartin4163

    Thank you! For being honest,

  • mlj (Team Pea Coat)

So you have studied this? You are a specialist? A medical professional? A counselor? What? You know so much about this… can’t you just have a bit of compassion? Addiction is a DISEASE.

  • http://twitter.com/miss_mandy25 Amanda E

regardless to whether this is right or wrong as a “reporter,” which is a loose term as it is for him, you’re not supposed to offer your opinion, or supposition, only the facts.

  • KnowledgeIsPower

Palladin is correct. Addiction is NOT a disease. It’s a CHOICE that someone makes everytime they ABUSE drugs or alcohol. No one wakes up and decides to try cancer.
Just because quitting is hard, doesn’t make it a disease.
Whiney, crybabies that sit around and complain about how hard things are, are the same people that got alcohol/drugs classified as a disease.
Lazy entitlement babies that would rather sit around and drink/do drugs and get a “disability” check.
Your response tells me you are obviously a child or an adult with a low intelligence level. You would serve yourself better to educate yourself about an entire subject rather then the one that is preached by those that are looking to keep you down. Oh wait, maybe it’s to hard.

  • Dawhite43

Ms. Houston is at rest! I am sure she can care less what Satan people have to say! God blessed our sister, Ms Whitney Houston to bring us beautiful music from a voice of Angels. We were bless to share that glory with her. Satan people have nothing except lies, their always digging up more lies so they have conversation with their other Evil counterparts and their so call followers. God have Ms. Whitney Houston so I know Satan people are going to act like fools and say evil things about a women who voice is the greatest the world has ever heard! Ms. Whitney Houston loved us all and I am a fan, I watch her and I have concluded that Ms. Houston was bigger than life itself and she concur this world with her voice and God’s Halo that was always with her! She ran the good race and she will receive her grown!

  • Snap609

couldn’t agree with you more Alberto… anyone who listens to this guy apparently is under mind control or more, has no mind at all… Latest reports… Whitney never made it to the tub, rather she collapsed on the floor… Women her age begin menopause which can cause depression and “hot flashes” hence the prescriptions and perspiration… she had a new film coming out and much to live for… I believe her sudden passing to be a great loss to her child, her family, friends, fans and the industry… may she rest in peace.

  • Snap609

Debbie you are so uneducated and sound ridiculous… you should really refrain from speaking about subjects on which you are clueless… a little bit of “nice” goes a long way… considering she has a child, desperately in need of consolation, i would think that you’d be able to hold off on the “wicked” for a minute… this guy with a mic and a soap box isn’t exactly a great roll model…consider new and more accurate reporting.
