  • MissZee

he’s an ass…i don’t use this word often but i HATE him

  • tribecca

Whoopi and Joy – don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. What total idiots…….

  • MissZee

wait…Whoopi and Joy are idiots?? I disagree. O’Reilly doesn’t know his facts…he doesn’t know that extremists twisted what the true meaning of being a Muslim is all about….i’m Atheist but my mother is a Muslim..he’s basically attacking my mother and other Muslims for something they didn’t do…they had no control over…so why punish a group of people for something they didn’t do?…Also if that’s the case…i demand that Catholic Churches be closed down near my neighborhood since I fear for the child(ren)s safety once it comes to the priests….you can’t have it both ways

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kaliko-Reed/696627328 Kaliko Reed

Why can’t we all vote (whoever wants to vote) on whether it should be allowed? I think 70% in opposition might actually be a LOW estimate.

  • MissZee

the country shouldn’t have to vote…9/11 happened in NYC…therefore, if anyone should vote it should be NY citizens

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kaliko-Reed/696627328 Kaliko Reed

The incident happened in AMERICA, where we ALL live.

  • MissZee

granted it did, but YOU didn’t see what happened in person…i DID…i LIVE in NYC…you have witnessed it on tv…i SAW it LIVE…it’s a completely different feeling when you see something in person

  • MissZee

i remember that day very vividly…am i pissed that it happened? yes…but to crucify every single Muslim, to me is unacceptable…also…it’s not only a mosque and people seem to forget that part…it’s a community center…there’s also a gym, a basketball court, etc…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kaliko-Reed/696627328 Kaliko Reed

I’m sorry you had to see that. I’m sorry it happened. Nobody’s crucifying every single Muslim by asking that it not be built on that site. The point is, it doesn’t HAVE to be placed THERE. There are probably lots of other places it could be built that nobody would object to. It could be a wonderful thing for a lot of people, Muslim or not, but to have it placed THERE is what is bothering a lot of people. I know all Muslims shouldn’t be blamed for what happened, of course! But to force the rest of the people who live in NYC like you and those who lost loved ones in that tragedy who DON’T want it there suffer because a group of people have the RIGHT to build it there doesn’t seem fair. It should be a sacred place for ALL, where loved ones can go do seek solace for their losses. It can’t be that if it’s designated a special place by one religion, especially one that is remotely associated with a group who caused the whole tragedy to begin with. That’s all I’m trying to say.

  • BeReal

Bill O’ Reilly carries his butt on his shoulders. He thinks he is God’s gift and doesn’t give a hoot for other people feelings. He needs to come down off of his high horse. God cares for Muslims just as much as he does for Americans. A few in the bunch doesn’t have to spoil the whole barrel. To say that ALL Muslims are the same is WRONG. That’s just like saying that all Americans are alike. We are SOOO diverse until it is a shame.

  • BeReal

I would have walked out from that man too.

  • tribecca

I had a friend who was murdered on 9/11. This friend was a flight attendant who was aboard Flight #175 that slammed into one of the twin towers that day. Does this affect me every single day? You bet it does as I’m sure many others out there are also affected by this senseless, evil attack on our country. Do I blame ALL Muslims? Of course not, but the ones who want to build this mosque at Ground Zero are truly heartless. If you really cut through all the politically correct BS anyone with common sense can see this for what it is. It’s a big middle finger being given to all New Yorkers and all Americans and it is fundamentally WRONG on all levels. Talk about a lack of sensitivity. And Miss Zee, for your information, my children go to a Catholic school. You would be hard pressed to find any priests or nuns teaching in those schools these days. Leave the Catholics out of this. You also can’t persecute all of us for the sins of the deviants in the Church.

While I do not like Bill O’Reilly & I think that it was totally inprofessional for Whoopi & Joy to walk out like that. No one’s blaming all Muslims for what happened. Obviously it’s not their fault, I have friends who are Muslim & I treat them the same. There is no problem with them building a Mosque but why did they choose Ground Zero; knowing there are going to be issues with that decision. There are plenty of places to build one, why choose that spot. I just think that it’s disrespectful that because of what happened on 9/11, someone would choose to build it there. It’s morally wrong & if they had a heart they wouldn’t build it there. Ground Zero shouldn’t have been an option, they know exactly what they are doing.
Oh and Miss Zee, the comment about the Catholic Church was out of line. If that was the case no churches should be built because sinners roam everywhere. This is coming from a Christian.
The bottom line is just for them to build their Mosque somewhere else that won’t have a country upset.

  • Bobbi

Your headline is incorrect. Bill O’Reilly didn’t “cause” them to storm off the set. They chose to. Joy and Whoopi are completely incapable of hearing another person’s point of view if it doesn’t agree with their own. Although this is the first time they’ve decided to leave the stage, it is not new to viewers of this show to witness the contempt and disdain they show for anyone who espouses a conservative point of view. This often includes their own colleague, Elisabeth.

Barbara was correct and I’m glad she said what she did. They acted completely unprofessionally and their audience deserves an apology from both of them, at the very least.

  • rebekahac

I think that Joy Behar and Whoopi are completely wrong with how they handled themselves. They came back on stage and could not still admit that they were wrong. It just shows how shallow and ignorant they are when it comes to what is really going on with America. Both of their behavior today is a sign of their true colors which are immature, unprofessional, and not interested in hearing the truth and what is going on with America. I am very disappointed and have lost a lot of respect for these two women.

  • BeReal

Bill O’Reilly is way over conservative. He is up on a high horse. He always treats others like he is the only one who knows and not consider others. You can be conservative and listen to others. Maybe the audience is due for an apology, but I don’t know about that “butt 1st” man. He definitely wouldn’t apologize if the shoe didn’t fit him. I would say Whoopi and Joy keep your head up. That man was getting ridiculous in that interview. He could have had a better attitude.

  • rebekahac

I think Bill O-Reilly is an asset to the American people.

  • Cluegiver

    1. If it’s HOLLY ground why didn’t they build anything there yet.
    2. There are porn shops and liqueur stores that are actaully on the same street as ground zero.
    3. it’s NOT at ground zero your an idiot if you think that. It’s an old Burlington coat factory, unless those are holly now too.
    4. The problem with saying build it somewhere else is this can easily be escalated. 2 blocks? how about 4 now 10? what about the whole city? You are opening Pandora’s box. There are several other small towns in other states now fighting pre-approved Muslim centers or whatever because of this.
    5. If we loose our values, they win. it’s as simple as that.
    6. We need to support moderates of all faiths/creeds if we plan on winning the hearts and minds of the people over seas.

It’s sad to see how easily terrorist have taken this country hostage before 911 would we every refuse a religion a right? Really think about it what the terrorist want and think about it hard.

    Just 0.02
    God bless

  • tribecca

Cluegiver – you need to get a “clue” and learn how to spell too. “Holly”?! It’s “holy”. And who are you to call anyone an idiot? The fact remains that building this mosque so close to Ground Zero is still an insult and IMHO that’s exactly what they intended in the first place – to insult and thumb their noses at America and all that were murdered on 9/11.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lacee-Young-Cunning/502454725 Lacee Young Cunning

I always am open to hearing other peoples views on subjects, but some of you on here are NUTS.
If we as American excluded and SHUT down every religion that had a history of any kind, of having a few people that went crazy and killed someone in a abortion clinic or went and highjacked planes, there wouldn’t be a single “worship center” in America. You have got to be kidding me how much people are judging these days….isn’t this AMERICA?? Wasn’t the reason that the pilgrims came over here in the first place for RELIGIOUS FREEDOMS?? Yes they were Christians, but they didn’t want to be told what they could and couldn’t believe. There has been a history in this country of picking who to hate and hating them until we find someone else to hate……Japanese, communists, BLACKS, Gays, and now muslims. JOY and WHOOPI didn’t leave because they didn’t want to hear Bill O’ Reily, they left because ( I assume ) they didn’t want to be sitting next to or be associated with someone that would make a HATE-FILLED statement like that. They aren’t going to apologize anymore than Bill will apologize. You have people holding up “God hates Fags” Posters outside of Soldiers servises closer to the funeral sites than they are wanting this COMMUNTIY WORSHIP CENTER to ground zero. Why isn’t anyone more upset about that…..oh yeah because this is America and people have a right to there opinion.

Bottom Line: You can’t punish ONE religion for what a few people that belong to it do…..or we would be lining up to punish everyone.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lacee-Young-Cunning/502454725 Lacee Young Cunning

And I want to add that it’s not like it is on ground zero, it’s TWO blocks away. It’s not like while people are going there to pay there respects they will glance across the street and see the “mosque”

  • tribecca

Bottom line – it’s still wrong, offensive and insensitive. It’s just too much of a coincidence that this place was chosen to build the mosque. Gee, go figure! I find it really disturbing that some people are so blind to this whole controversy and since I did lose someone dear to me in that attack, I am especially offended by this whole mosque thing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kirsten-Zoe-Hyer/1603320065 Kirsten Zoe Hyer

Here’s the thing. Its two blocks from a corner of the WTC, its not within any sort of line of sight from the WTC, and all of this drama surrounding it is ridiculous. If I’m free to worship where I want and how I want, then everyone is. End of story. Anyone who thinks differently needs to examine their own lives and actions.

  • MissZee

then what is deem acceptable? 4 blocks? 5? i think it’s completely ignorant…you’re blaming these people for something they had no control over when 9/11 happened, like i have stated before…Also, it’s a community center…the mosque isn’t the only thing being built there…

  • tribecca

What I’ve gathered from the disgraceful display by two mean-spirited, ignorant harpies (Joy and Whoopi) on the View this morning and the discussion here is this: common decency is almost extinct in the world today. What’s wrong is right and what’s right is wrong. The terrorists in the world are getting a big kick out of all this. They realize this country is being destroyed from within and they don’t even have to fire a single shot. This is being played right into their hands. Very frightening indeed…………….

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wahine-Mercedes/100000475623108 Wahine Mercedes

I side with Bill on this one. No one is saying don’t build your mosque, just don’t build it THERE in that area.
I was not THERE when this tragedy occurred but, I did witness it on TV. and I cried and my heart hurt so badly that I thought I would die!!
When bigotted killing is done to one american it is done to all americans. Yes, it occured in NY but, it is OUR land, OUR country and OUR countrymen. We are one. We are a whole unit and when one of us is hurt in such a manner we all feel it.
I am part of the 70% oppossing this mosque site. Although, I do feel it is was higher than 70%.
I personally am sick and tired of all this bullcrap on muslims wanting to be treated with kid gloves. I have yet to hear of any muslim standing up and opposing these fanatics, this morally wrong bull headedness of wanting to build a mosque at that site.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wahine-Mercedes/100000475623108 Wahine Mercedes

The name CORDOBA refers to the great mosque of Cordoba, Spain.
Just because something is legal does not necessarily make it a good idea.
This monstrosity will not symbolize peace and reconciliation. Muslims will worship at the site of a great Muslim “military” victory—a milestone on the path to the further spread of Islam throughout the world
The groups behind the ‘Ground Zero mosque’ / Cordoba House / Park51 chose the site explicitly for its proximity to Ground Zero, and then spent months boasting about it in the press.
They do Not wish to blend in, but to rob those democracies of their soul and ruin the value system and culture that made them great
Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system. Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.
Islam is a political organization with evil intent toward America and the Constitutional Republic the rest of us want to see remain strong and free of religious Terror.
There is no “getting along with Islam”, there is only acquiescence to it’s never ending demands, which are always met on Islam’s terms; complete submission. Resistance is futile . . . UNLESS we keep them out in the first place!
Locusts are also “small” but, as they multiple and they cause extensive damage to all!
BTW: Where is the outcry from the American Muslim community about 9/11 and all of the acts of terrorism since then? The silence is deafening.

  • BeReal

O’Reilly is an asset to those who want him to be an asset to them. He is the exact reason why people in other countries HATE Americans… because they do not listen to others. That man needs to come down off of his HIGH HORSE. His word is no more superior than my word. That to me is a NYC matter. It’s where they live and it is up to them. It should be something put up to vote for them only. No one else to me should settle the matter but them.

  • tribecca

@Wahine – AMEN! Out of this whole thread, I give you the prize for giving the best perspective. Kudos to you!

  • PaperKid

Great thread with interesting/compelling views from 2 different perspectives. I would like to add mine:
I am a proud American living in a muslim country in the Middle East…Actually right smack in the middle of the region. We work and communicate every day with muslims and my husband’s employees who are mostly Jordanians send us gifts from the Holy Land on a regular basis since they visit home often.

Personally I have been treated with the utmost respect and kindness from the locals, the country’s 81% muslim population being mostly shia. We worship freely at Sacred Heart Cathedral downtown which overshadows, literally, a few small mosques. Our traffic blends with theirs and you can’t imagine the ridiculous traffic at Christmas and Easter time. But all are very polite and all I am trying to convey is that you should all chill out already. You are getting hysterical because you are forgetting the First and Greatest Commandment by God. You know the God you kicked out of the country? It states that you must love and trust God; not PLAY God by judging, eg the woman who bashed Catholics above and the ones who are bashing all muslims. And for the record I have heard their sermons in English here (since they are blared over speakers), condemning hate and intolerance, rage and harming of non-muslims. I heard it, my husband heard it and our housekeeper heard it. But no on believe me because they DO NOT WANT TO BELIEVE ME. i think most would rather HATE.

I do agree/believe the moderates should speak up more against the jihadists terrorists. But I also believe that they need our support. To alienate them all is NOT WORKING. Can’t anyone see that??

And furthermore, while I’m at it why can’t more Americans speak out against or own culture sores? What about all the gang related murders. the armed robberies, the child abuse, etc., etc.? What about our very own evil culture of death? You know the one? Where we kill our youngest most vulnerable pre-born Americans who are inside the womb? To stand by idly and say nothing makes you, as an American, just as guilty as the muslims who do not speak out against terror. If you think the 2 are not equal, you are so wrong. You are a hypocrite.

I’m not done because I absolutely hate when people trash my Catholic Faith. You are the most intolerant of all and you will one day pray to God for His Mercy and forgiveness for doing that to the beloved Catholic Church. And oh, by the way the Sheikh here donated a huge chunk of public land in January of 2009 to the Catholic Cathedral. Don’t believe me google “Bahrain king donates land to Catholics”.

For the record, I think the left-wing has ruined our country with their stupid liberal special interests.

  • Peregrine

Let me make one thing very clear.

A Mosque near Ground Zero would NOT be insensitive. It would NOT be erecting a war monument to terrorists, as some have suggested.

Let me tell you what it WOULD be.

It would be one of the most significant steps towards peace and anti-racism in history. Just because the terrorists HAPPENED to be Muslim, that’s no reason to crucify the whole religion for what a few radicals did (who, by the way, didn’t destroy the Twin Towers because of their religion anyway). I seem to recall a savage and bloody invasion by ‘Holy Christians’ called the Crusades, but I don’t see the descendants of those Jews and Muslims protesting the construction of new churches. If you want to start looking down your nose and persecuting other religions, maybe you should open a history book. Or even read the news. Pastor Terry Jones, remember him? The biggest racist bigot yet?

Anyone who is offended by a Mosque at Ground Zero is either racist or ignorant. There is literally no other explanation. These are the people who think that every Muslim in the world hates America and Americans and wants to kill them all, or the people who think that because Muslims are different, or not Christian, they have every right to treat them like dirt. I can guarantee you, if the terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Centers happened to be Christian or Catholic, NOBODY would make an issue of their religion. NOBODY would protest a church being built at Ground Zero. But because they were Muslim, all the idiots and racists feel safe in coming out of their holes and yelling at people who have done nothing wrong.

Whatever happened to ‘justice and liberty for all’? ‘Freedom of speech’? The principles America is built on? Can we all just forget them the second someone who is, gasp, different from us comes along? If you are not willing to grant those freedoms to ALL others, then you have no right to enjoy their privileges yourself.

People like THIS are what’s wrong with America. Rednecks, idiots, and racists will blame the government, foreigners, non-Christian, gays, or illegal immigrants for ‘the state of the country’. The fact is that America, and the world, are made less with every dumbass bigoted racist remark or protest.

I say, build on! Let the Mosque go up, in defiance of racism and injustice, as a monument to the freedom, justice, and liberty of this country!

  • Peregrine

Oh, and P.S., Wahine is EXACTLY the kind of racist ignorant I am talking about.
