Bill Maher: Donald Trump Is The “White Kanye West” (VIDEO)
In his latest “New Rule” segment, Maher declared, “Stop trying to pin the rise of Donald Trump on easy targets like racism, xenophobia, and fetal alcohol syndrome — and put the blame where it belongs, on the self-esteem movement.” The host went on to say, “If there’s anything scarier than the fact that Donald Trump thinks he’s the most important person in the world, it’s that in eight months, he could be.”
Maher noted that there’s been various explanations for the “Trump phenomenon,” and said he views the GOP frontrunner as a “spoiled five-year-old throwing a tantrum.” He connected the way kids are coddled and given over-inflated egos to Trump’s abundant confidence. “Bad idea to teach children that there is nothing better than falling madly head over heels, leaving notes on your own windshield, in love with yourself,” said Maher.
“And also anyone who doesn’t agree that you are fabulous and perfect in every way is just a hater and they can suck it,” he continued. “Sound like anyone we know? Have you noticed that nobody ever does anything better than Donald Trump?”
After showing a montage of clips in which Trump proclaims himself the “best” at various things and vows to be “better” than anyone else, Maher exclaimed, “He’s the white Kanye West!” The remark received laughs from his panel, and loud cheers from the studio audience.
West, of course, has sparked quite a few ego-driven controversies over the last few months, at times deeming himself the “greatest rapper.” Check out the full video below, and tell us if you agree with Maher’s West-Trump comparison.
