Mob Wives Star Big Ang Has Successful Surgery On Throat Tumor
“Mob Wives” star Big Ang has had successful surgery on the cancerous tumor growing in her throat. The eight-hour procedure to remove the growth happened on Tuesday, and according to the reality TV personality’s sister Janine Detore, everything went smoothly. Big Ang’s loved ones are waiting for PET scan results to make sure the cancer did not spread.
Detore tells TMZ doctors also removed Big Ang’s left lymph nodes as a precautionary measure. The raspy-voiced star has been told not to speak for the next three days, but it’s expected her voice will eventually get back to normal. Gossip Cop wishes Big Ang a full and speedy recovery, and we will have updates.
The “Mob Wives” star had been coping with neck pain for weeks before doctors discovered a lemon-sized tumor in her throat. Big Ang’s inimitably raspy voice came after smoking cigarettes for 35 years, she said in a 2012 interview.
In a message to fans before going under the knife this week, Big Ang said, “I am so thankful to each and every one of you for the love, support, prayers and most of all positive wishes. Big Ang isn’t going anywhere! This is a minor setback, but I promise you this… I already have some BIG things in the world and will be returning to your TVs very soon.”
