Beyonce NOT Starring In The Big Short, Despite Author’s Claim (EXCLUSIVE)
Beyonce has NOT been cast in The Big Short, despite what the author of the book upon which the movie is based claimed during an interview with “CBS This Morning.” After Michael Lewis, who wrote the best-selling book, noted in the interview that production had started in New Orleans on Monday, he then rattled off some names of the film’s stars, including Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale, and mentioned that he believed Beyonce had also been added to the all-star cast. But it’s “not true,” a rep for Beyonce exclusively tells Gossip Cop. Paramount Pictures also confirms only to Gossip Cop that she’s not in the film.
Initially, based on Lewis’ own words, Gossip Cop was similarly under the impression that Beyonce might have been cast in the film, although we were admittedly a bit skeptical because the book has very few female characters.
Like the book “The Big Short,” the character-driven film is set to focus on a number of people on Wall Street who foresaw the housing collapse and accurately bet against mortgage bonds being paid up in full and on time, which led to the stock market’s 2008 crash. Those prescient businesspeople ended up making a fortune, while several banks were left with billions in debt.
Fans of Beyonce will simply have to wait for her to star in another movie. Check out the video below of Lewis floating the rumor that Beyonce was possibly joining the cast of The Big Short, and tell us what you think.
