Beyonce and Jay Z lent their support to Freddie Gray’s family while attending Prince’s “Rally4Peace” concert in Baltimore. The famous couple met up and posed for pictures with Gray’s family, as well as the mother of Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by police last year.
In a photo posted to Instagram (below), Beyonce and Jay Z smiled with the mourning family of Freddie Gray, who died while in police custody after his arrest in Baltimore. In another Instagram photo (also below), Beyonce posed with her mom, Tina Knowles, Alicia Keys, and Michael Brown’s mother.
Before meeting up with Gray’s family and attending Prince’s concert, Jay Z said in a statement, “I am honored to join Prince in his mission to inspire through the uniting power of music and be able to offer a platform where this moment can be shared globally.” He added, “Our prayers go out to Freddie Gray’s family and every family affected by brutality and senseless violence.”
Jay Z’s streaming service, Tidal, which live-streamed the entire “Rally4Peace,” has offered to match donations made to the Baltimore Justice Fund, which was founded after Gray’s death to “improve police accountability and increase racial justice.”
