Beyoncé paid tribute to the victims of the Charleston church shooting in a moving video posted to Instagram. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported, alleged gunman Dylann Storm Roof opened fire inside the Emanuel AME Church on Wednesday night, as members were participating in a prayer meeting. He fatally shot nine people, including pastor and South Carolina State Senator Celementa Pinckney. After an all-night manhunt, Roof was captured by police in North Carolina on Thursday morning. He’s since been charged with nine counts of murder and one weapons count.
Roof appeared at a bond hearing on Friday, where a judge explained he could not set bail due to the murder charges. Inside the court room, some of the victims’ relatives spoke about the tragedy, and a few even said they’ve already forgiven Roof for his alleged actions. Hours before, Beyoncé was recognizing the six women and three men, aged 26 to 87, who died from the shameful act.
“My heart is with the families, loved ones, and all of those affected by the senseless tragedy in Charleston. May they rest in peace,” the superstar wrote on Instagram. Accompanying the post was black and white video showing an image of the South Carolina church, with the names of each and every victim appearing on screen in an endless loop. The message: They had names, and they will not be forgotten. See the video below.
